I felt this way too about last year after south carolina and thought the offense seemed to click more but it did take an incredible individual effort by Boardingham to make a first down on what should have been a short pass stopped for little gain. I think the game would have been over otherwise. I don't think Napier's offense has been THE problem but I also think he can't and hasn't adapted his offense at all to offset whatever limitations it has like AR's passing game or the offensive line's ability to pass or run block in particular situations. Thank God boardingham did what he did but that play call as an example wasn't really good given that situation.
I agree with Janoris that Napier doesn’t get Florida culture or swag. Much like Muschamp he wanted to build Florida like Bama- attention to detail and blue collar etc. But that discounts the speed and style that has worked here and that is prevalent in Florida highschool football and when the big 3 have been good they also had. Napier has not embraced that. It’s all little things and pales in comparison to the things that are really killing us on gameday - inviting old players back never made Miami good at football (see Randy Shannon) Alternate uniforms never made us win a game- but there it Is an element. In recruiting. In culture. In how the players feel they have a say in the design of the program. we are not Bama. We will never be Bama. Be Florida .
Well he did say “the President and DOWN” and your response was “yeah, and the AD too” which conveniently falls in the “and Down” category. So not entirely sure I know who won, but I know who lost.
What are the chances the gators become relevant under Napier realistically? Maybe 5% at best. It sure would be nice to be in the national discussion again. It would take a monumental surprising run.
If it’s anything like the last two years the longer wait the more the decision becomes self evident to everyone.
I said earlier complacency had set in the past few weeks and this game would reignite the fire….here we go
FIRE NAPIER TONIGHT. He cost us a minimum of 13 points from awful coaching. He needs to be gone and someone else needs to be coaching Lagways now that Mertz is done. Anyone will do just not Billy.
That was the nail in the coffin, it would not have been if that game was not so fumbled by the coaching staff. It is not the loss, we have the talent to match them, the coaching lost this very winnable game.
Attention to detail and meticulous perfection works great if you can do it. If you can't you end up looking like a moron who can't remember jersey numbers, how to count to 11, when to call TOs, when to punt, or how to open bottles.
Automatic illegal procedure as soon as we get in the red zone. Time after time. It's so avoidable and so painful to watch.
I don’t get Billy. The Vols handed us a gift. We could be 4-2 right now and turning the narrative of this season around. He had a chance tonight to tell his critics to shut up. He’s still not coaching like his job depends on it.
Should have been up 17-0 at halftime. Napier coaches away another easy victory with nonsensical play calling (Lagway doesn't sneak, Mertz sneak fumble, calling a deep shot on a 3&1 down, etc). Boosters should fire him now. Season is over.
