By: Eric Fawcett -- October 9, 2024 It’s less often than ever that freshmen can come into college and have a big impact at the high-major level, and it’s even less common when players that do so hardly had high-major offers coming out of high school. That’s what happened with Alex Condon, who committed to the Gators at a time he didn’t have much high-major interest outside of Utah, a team that historically has had interest in Australian players. The rest of Eric's usual good article is at: Big Sophomore Leap Expected For Alex Condon | GatorCountry.com
We are going to be a heck of a team. Chinyelu or Alexis - C Condon - PF Haugh or Richard - SF Martin- CG Clayton- CG Think this is top 7 but have a few more that will play. Top 3 SEC team and Elite 8 is possible. Can't wait
I'm expecting a decent improvement, don't want to get too hyped up. Rather he exceed modest expectations than has some lofty expectation and he under deliver (AKA as our football model).
Yeah the problem is everyone else in the SEC is getting better as well. Way too early ESPN top 25. 2. Alabama Crimson Tide 11. Auburn Tigers 12. Texas A&M Aggies 13. Tennessee Volunteers 14. Arkansas Razorbacks 20. Ole Miss Rebels 21. Florida Gators 22. Texas Longhorns 23. Kentucky Wildcats
I say problem, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing come tournament time. We just have to make sure we get in. Conference play will be competitive as heck.
I agree. We look great on paper, but so do a lot of other teams. This conference just keeps getting better and better. But as we all know, it's not about the paper, it's how the parts end up working together. It seems like TFG has a pulled together a lot of complimentary pieces to make us a well rounded team, but only time will tell how they fit and perform in real life against top comp. This is true for us and for the others. Here's to hope. And in TFG we trust. We won't suck. Of that, I'm confident. Can't wait.
Crazy to think we have all of this and don’t mention an Aberdeen jump. Any other year and he would be a top 5 preseason story.
We can't overlook Aberdeen or Klavzar. Both will compete for minutes. Even Kublickas, but CTG doesn't traditionally go with a 10-man rotation. I think I recall he sees 7 to 9 as the sweet spot.
As usual, he tends to follow the data. I think it is 8.5-9 for defensive reasons, and 7-7.5 for offensive, so the sweet spot is 8 + 1 in the event of foul trouble. I think it is going to be hard to play less than 9, unless Klavzar is too big a liability defensively.
Urban might fill that "instant offense off the bench" role that coaches love. Sometimes you need to just sub in a guy that changes the look enough to break a scoring drought.
