I did. And I still can't find where she said DeSantis was doing a terrible job. Can you repost the quote and bold the part where she says that?

Through their chain of command? Is this some kind of a trick question?

He could have said that Florida was in charge without the 'we're not going to let FEMA run amok' part, don't you think?

And DeSantis, as the supported effort, is suppose to assume that his guidance is going to make it through FEMA's chain of command and that their personnel have a very clear understanding of it down to the lowest level? You know what they say about what happens when you assume.

I would not have said it that way but again, DeSantis is the supported effort and he can choose how he wants to say it. If it ends up being an issue over the next week, DeSantis has to take responsibility for it.

Ok, I will spoon feed you since you seem to be unable to understand what is being said here.

Here is the clip we are discussing. Note he is talking to the people. "I am the sheriff here. I am here to protect you."

He is not talking to his first responders, he is not talking to FEMA. He is talking to the people of Florida.

Ok? So that is what you are trying to defend.

Do you honestly think that is the best way to get your message to the first responders or FEMA?

As to I didn't answer the question, read it again, maybe slowly if you need to .... here this might help....

So in simple, easy to understand terms, meetings were held (or at least should have been) with state and Federal responders well before the storm hit. The fact that Florida was the head agency would have been established. That would have been communicated down the chain to everyone involved.

His getting on the air and slamming FEMA like he did is nothing but grandstanding and frankly unhelpful.

And you assume that a stupid TV interview is going to get the message to everyone?

Again, I assure you people had more important things to do before the storm than listen and watch for all the interviews Ronnie was doing in the slim case he would give them some info they didn't already have.

If you can't understand that, then you are intentionally trying not to understand it.

Versus assuming that the FEMA people have time to be watching DeSantis' press conference?

You conveniently leave out the first part of DeSantis message in that clip. He is saying he is the supported effort and he is running the show. In the first part of that message he is talking about all the different entities he is marshaling to deal with the storm. He says that FEMA will be in support of them but they are not running the show. That speaks exactly to what I have been saying. I get that you do not like how DeSantis says it.

Thank you for proving my point. You are assuming that those meeting were able to be held between state and FEMA personnel. That is extreme unlikely since the FEMA personnel are going to be pre-positioned away from the storm and the Florida personnel are not going to be co-located with them in all cases. So how are all those meetings supposes to take place in under 48 hours while everyone is busy making preparations for the storm? Bottom line is that they cannot. This is the point I have been trying to explain to you. It is almost logistically impossible to do the thing you have been suggesting would be very easy to do. Everyone assumes this things are easy when they are in fact extremely difficult once you look at the logistics of doing them.

Again, I do not like getting in the PR Comm strategy but here we are. I'm done discussing this seeing as the storm is over. If DeSantis really screwed this up with his PR Comm strategy, feel free to dunk on him as much as you would like.

Ok, this is my last response to you on this topic.

First, sometime back, they invented this thing called a telephone. Then later the ability to have multiple people on them at once which quickly lead to "conference calls." More recently they invented this thing called "video conferences." Ok? See... you don't need to be in the same physical location to communicate.

Finally, this isn't either Florida's or FEMA's first rodeo. The two have a pretty long history of working together on disaster response, and details such as who is in charge would have been established long ago. Little Ronnie had no need to try and establish that in a TV interview, and in fact there would have been no less effective way to establish it than in a TV interview.

Frankly, you have already agreed with what we are saying by your replies, "I don't like the way he said it." You however are trying your damnedest to try and paint it like he was trying to communicate with the responders when he wasn't.

If all he said on that interview was, "Florida is the lead here" no one would care, but he made it political by bashing FEMA. Again, if the shoe was on the other foot and a Dem said that when a Pub was president you would never hear the end of it from the right.

Yeah, I'd think you'd want to make this your last response because USMC is making you look foolish. Good move backing down.

    "Nothing new under the sun."

Um, fastest storm to go from depression to Cat 5... is new.

Not sure I've ever seen a Hurricane form off the coast of Mexico and get that strong. But I could be wrong on that.

Little Ronnie sure does hate him some science.

So how are you going to ensure that everyone is on the VTC and that they can all get on at that time? Or do you plan on doing more then one? If it is more than one, how long are the VTC meeting going to last? How are you planning on determining when participants have availability to attend one of those VTC's? How many hours are you planning to dedicate to this task of the remaining 48 hours? What tasks do you de-prioritized to free up time to attend the VTC? How are you going to do accountability to ensure every participants has attended one of the VTC? Remember almost everyone is either conducting preparation for the storm or moving to per-position sites and there is only 48 hours before the storm hits.

You obviously think this is very easy but it actually is not. These things are extremely logistically challenging as I keep pointing out. I addressed the VTC point in post #840 of this thread, where I said "Was he supposed to do a series of joint VTC's with each Fl region and the FEMA team that was designated for that region?" I guess you missed that.

Nope. Don't you have some more complaining to do about any and anything Republican? It's ok, I love watching you get schooled by USMC. Keep digging that hole!

I doubt they watched the press conference but I'd be shocked if almost all of them did not see the clip on social media or have it sent to them at some point during the next 24 hours.

The left stops at nothing to try to denigrate the right. The right does it right back. The people in the middle have to deal with this BS non-stop. They can't just accept that the buck doesn't stop with FEMA, and that it ultimately stops with the Gov of Florida.
