When can the SEC abolish the NCAA? Those feckless clowns are trying to ruin college football, and we know who the people are behind these fateful decisions.
I'ts still supposed to keep players tied to teams... all they have to do is to put limits in the transfer portal. What this move does is make players all "free-agents" with no real team. That's the wrong thing to do if your goal is to keep college football stable. IOW, that new bone-headed NCAA move DESTABILIZES college football even more.
While the train left the station long ago, I regret the powers at be did not keep the game amatuer, pay EVERY player a resonable stipend, (say $25K a season), AND expand the playoff format. The only advantage I see to all this madness is expanding the playoffs. Whispers of Universities (at least power 4) turning over the entire mechanism to consultant entities, what I mean, is each University outsources the entire program / every aspect, to firms that will specilaize in maximizing profit, marketing opportunities, recruiting, player development, links to the NFL, and so forth, seems to me to be a certainty. In other words the same rank and file entities that run Pro Football, just expanded to the Power 4 level. No doubt when this happens the tenticles of these organizations will invade and wrap around High School Football. Thats what I see. Speculative of course but, really, just capatalism at work.
. Do you think we will see colleges offer 2/3 year scholarships/contracts? Can you imagine if we have Lagway signed to a 3 year deal, and it doesn’t matter if Napier gets canned he’s locked in with UF? I can see it heading that way. If you want to get treated like a pro, enough of this one year and transfer BS. You can leave when your contract is up!
Its abolished the second the SEC and BIG resign. It might still technically still exist for schools not currently in the Power 4
Contracts is what I see the schools wanting. If you pay a kid and develop him, why should they freely go to a competitor? The system is the dumbest one in world sports. It’s probably the most corrupt also and always has been.
