Everything is political when you have an extremely close POTUS election and state/federal governments are about to show how competent they are at one of the biggest responsibilities they have to their voters. There is just no way to avoid it for either side.

I think the timeline is unclear. The interview with Kamala on the tarmac where she brings up DeSantis happened NLT 5:54 pm on Oct 7th. That report from NBC was dropped on Oct 7th 1:19pm but updated at 8:46pm. Sounds like the staffs where bickering about what would happen if the call did not happen and both sides were talking to reporters ahead of time and were prepared to get their side of the story out, when the news broke the call did not happen. The one thing I would caution you on here is that the Governor is the supported effort here and if he and his staff are not asking for something, they have the right to say "No, we are going to bother with this right now."

DeSantis probably did not know Harris had tried to reach out to him because his staff did not think it was worth telling him about it. It sounds like good staff work by DeSantis' team. DeSantis is the supported effort, if he needs something, he will call that person or agency for it, they do not need to be calling him. Biden said he is in touch with DeSantis, who is doing a great job and DeSantis has his personal cell if he needs anything. If that is the case, why was Harris' team trying to get in touch with DeSantis?
