By: Gentry Hawk -- October 7, 2024 After recording just one reception for 36 yards and a touchdown through four games of the 2024 season, true freshman wide receiver Tank Hawkins got his chance to shine against the Knights as the Gators were down multiple receivers on Saturday night. With Aidan Mizell and Tre Wilson not dressed and Marcus Burke heavily limited due to an injury he suffered during pregame warmups, Hawkins broke out against the Knights. Love that young man's speed... Every time he touches the ball, he looks like he's one move from breaking along run.
I cringe to see an article like this because so many times in the past, a player ends up getting injured. I hope I’m wrong this time. Isn’t Gonzales our best position coach?
When it comes to the receiving corps… it's next man up because so many are injured. It's a good thing that we have a strong and deep receiving corps.
We do have quite the receiver group this year. If the defense can step it up like the last game it'll be nice to see what the offense can do. They inspire each other. Unrelated: I hope everyone in Florida is removing themselves from the coast as best they can. My family in the Panhandle is safe for a change, but the rest of them in Sarasota are looking vulnerable. My niece from Venice went up to Sarasota. At least they're in Lakewood Ranch, east of the 75! I would have headed to the panhandle. Be safe. 12 to 24 hours of craziness coming in late tonight!! It would be extremely cool to go up to Tenn and beat those Vols. Go Gators.
They may have had trouble getting to the panhandle, Malscott. Most main highways, including I-75 look like parking lots northbound. Hoping and praying they, and all those folks weather the storm. I’m 15 miles west of Ocala. Looks like we are probably going to miss the worst of it.
My parents went all the way up the coast to Jax and then over to pcola yesterday. Traffic wasn’t horrible . They made it
Glad they made it with little stress wanne. I’m going by pictures I’ve seen on tv and social media. Both show most dramatic, horrific scenes they can find.
Problem is Lakewood Ranch is pretty soggy to begin with.....going to be interesting to see how it fares this time, was pretty messy last time they got dinged by a storm
Badger and Dike have been huge for us. Hawkins is going to be a showstopper in another year or two. Really wish AM could get back on the field. Hew was coming in strong before the injury. As for traffic We left the coast on Tuesday at 3 am. Took 10 hours to get o Macon… another 2 to Atlanta.
Wilson is somebody you can line up anywhere and his abilities shine. I think Tank needs to be in a position to run after catch going north, not dodging traffic at the LOS.
