Anytime I need to confirm how dangerous trumph is, I come to this message board and read. Feels very Jim Jonesy. If you provide a link to anything other than what is in the middle, I'm scrollin'.
^ This. It's noteworthy; the response to a huge domestic national disaster from the right is to tell lies and spread conspiracy theories. (Just like with covid, really. ) It's shocking and abhorrent.....and it's the new Trumpy norm. Repudiation of this filth is, and always was, upon the voters. It will be interesting to see Republican voters tolerate their party tolerating this.....and years from now wondering why it persisted. The best time to act was 8 years ago. The second best is now.
FEMA blew a huge amount of money on imm8grant resettlement which was not part of their job. FEMA is supposed to assist state and local authorities when a disaster occurs, primarily by giving out money. There job is not to take control of a disaster situation and sieze food and medical supplies, for example. As far as I can tell FEMA has no authority to ground private, state or local aircraft as they evidently have done. Correct me if I'm wrong
They're supposed to assist local and state efforts . As opposed to shutting down medical tents, seizing supplies and grounding planes and helicopters. That's my understanding
Of course you do. You think you are because it fits your narrative but you don't have any real knowledge of how it works. If you think you're right then you must be right? I've been in classes taught by ICS commanders for ICS 100 through 800 series and have direct knowledge of how it all works but you think you're right so that's all that matters. Fema does more than just dole out money. You've never shown an interest in dialogue so again, of course you think you know.
One example: Scranton, Pa. is churning out Ukrainian weapons Ten minutes away from downtown Scranton, Pa., a munitions factory churns out 155 millimeter howitzer rounds – some of the most vital pieces of equipment for Ukraine’s defense against Russia. The Scranton Army Ammunition Plant has ramped up production of these artillery rounds since Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. They can be used to strike targets up to 20 miles away, making them one of Ukraine’s most requested items. This plant makes weapons for Ukraine and Taiwan, but cannot give specific numbers on how many are going to each country for security reasons. The U.S. Army was making 14,000 artillery shells a month prior to the conflict. Now, officials at the plant told Morning Edition that the army is producing 36,000 shells a month, up from 24,000 just six months ago.
^ This. Once an event is deemed a Federal Incident, the Feds are large and IN CHARGE. They definitely coordinate with state, local and private groups (ie Red Cross) that are authorized to participate but they the boss. I’ve been on a couple of federal incidents (wildfires) and the federal incident commander is boss of all (Sheriff, state employees, private contractors, other fed agencies). They don’t let private folks pull up to the fire line and volunteer to help. edit: the amount of resources that are available in a federal incident was staggering to me. Trucks, crews, bulldozers, tractors, planes, helicopters, specialized equipment and their operators from across the country - all trained and meeting minimum standards.
With the help of a Fox host, the lies upon which this thread was predicated and the lies in its support are exposed for what they are. Watch this video, listen to the Fox host and FEMA official. These aren't the typical "shame on me for believing this crap" lies, these are lies that are exposing people, including Fema workers, to danger. One nutjob's post suggesting militias need to go after FEMA workers got over one half million views. It only takes one whacko with an AR thinking this is a good idea, or worse, a directive from Trump, for something unimaginable to happen. Stop the madness. Quit spreading this crap.
You can thank W for that. His administration tied FEMA to Homeland Security. deployments President George W. Bush signed the Homeland Security Act. This Act created the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003. It united FEMA and 21 other organizations. Why won't Mike Johnson call a special session to fund FEMA?
Local law enforcement is now saying they will arrest any federal employee (think FEMA) who does anything to impede private citizen volunteers and local and state employees who are trying to rescue people etc. At least according to this guy Let's use this as an example of how "fact checkers" lie. Once you see how they do it you can't unsee it " Fact Check: Did NC State Police warn about arresting federal employees for blocking Hurricane Helene aid?" " Claim: NC State Police warned about arresting federal employees for hindering Hurricane Helene aid" "False: There is no 'North Carolina State Police' in existence" vegasfox: Do you see what they did? They never said sheriff's or police chiefs didn't threaten to arrest federal employees who impeded relief efforts. They debunked the claim that the non-existent NC State Police did this. This technique is used all the time. Seems to work better on Democrats than Republicans from my observation. If there was a fact-check of what I just said it might start like this: Fact Check: Was vegasfox correct when he stated that "according to a national study" Democrats are more easily fooled by false fact checks than Republicans? Fact Check: False. There has been no such national study
Fact check: Six days of Trump lies about the Hurricane Helene response https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/06/politics/fact-check-trump-helene-response-north-carolina
At t his point I think any federal funds should mostly be sent directly to state and local officials. If FEMA has supplies and equipment in warehouses that can be brought in by plane they can do that. Any way they can ASSIST relief efforts is okay. Putting FEMA in charge is a mistake imo. When it comes to spending money efficiently Local gov't >>State gov't>>Federal gov't Democrats prefer the opposite approach it seems. Look at education. Look at the federal mandates they want to impose. (Of course, when it comes to election integrity they oppose and federal law that would mandate voter ID'S because they love to cheat)
FEMA is a bureaucracy and therefore less effective than local and private resources at early stage recovery activities. And, it appears the current liberal administration has rendered FEMA even less effective than during prior natural disasters. That is sad as so many Americans continue to suffer due to the lack of leadership in this administration. Both potus and vp are simple incapable of responding to this disaster. One is sick and the other is just a cackling ditz.
