...NOAA HURRICANE HUNTERS FIND MILTON A MAJOR HURRICANE...

Data from a NOAA Hurricane Hunter aicraft indicate that Milton has
strengthened to a major hurricane. The maximum sustained winds are
estimated to be 120 mph (195 km/h). Milton is a category three
hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Data from
the aircraft also indicate that the minimum pressure has fallen to
954 mb (28.17 inches).

A special advisory will be issued by 7 AM CDT (1200 UTC) to reflect
this change and update the forecast.

Max winds predicted now at 155 abiut 24 prior to landfall, much of CF getting heavy rain today will add to inland flooding.


Small storm now but likely to have expanding wind field as it interacts with shear and land causing widespread damage as it traverses the Florida peninsula.

Like Helene It's just strange to me the models haven't caught up to how rapidly these intensify now with the warmer gulf waters. It's literally every time they come through

Within less than two weeks two hurricanes rapidly intensified to Cat 4 in the Gulf of Mexico and have or are threatening the west coast of Florida, tell me again that global climate change is a hoax.

 

Like clockwork now. They all become 4s or 5s.

 

Posted it in the Helene thread. Water temps in the Gulf are 2.5 degrees warmer now than they were like 20 years ago. Without getting into the climate change discussion at all, that's just a scientific fact. Warmer waters. And warmer waters fuel hurricanes rapidly. Gulf coast living may be short lived.

Praying it spares Tampa Bay. I spent most of my adulthood there and know very well how ugly it could get. I’m in South Florida now and there’s already a run on gas.
