Does the party continue as a MAGA-lite party or does it move towards a more centralist position? My thought is it will move away from MAGA towards someone like Haley but there will be a mini civil war in order to get there. There's a possibility that I'm wrong and the new leader essentially says they are Trump without the name

Myself, most of my ex-coworkers, most of my ex-classmates were MAGA before Trump ever came along. As a matter of fact I hated Trump when he was just a celebrity, I still hate his personality. However, his politics are right in line with mine.....That's why I get a chuckle whenever you guys reference Trump as the MAGA cult leader. Nobody is just blindly following him, he just lines up with the rest of us.

Hopefully the GOP goes back to representing conservatives and advocating for conservative principles.

It is also possible that the MAGA wing of the party will continue to grow and carry the party further down the path of populism.

I'm hoping for a return to conservatism.

you all came up with the idea that the election was stolen on your own? Had nothing at all to do with him claiming it?

He could win, of course, but IF he loses, I expect him to declare it stolen and run again in 2028. Would they nominate him a fourth time?

I find it difficult to believe that anyone doesn't know what will happen. The shitty, Trumpy, fake grievance will live on, along with all its shitty, Trumpy side-effects; fake news, conspiracy theories, politicizing disaster and pandemics and, well, everything, attacking whatever branch of the government seems opportune, a complete lack of ethics in government (at least from the right), and using whatever means possible to obtain power for power itself. Not to help people.

MAGA is here to stay. Welcome to the new norm.

Edit : Also; racial scapegoating, isolationism, tolerance of criminality.

I agree for the most part. We'll be fighting MAGA extremists forever more. But Trump is unique. I doubt they find a single person who gets them going like he does. They worship him.

He will definitely declare the election stolen if he loses. And he will try again to destroy our democracy.

You know this old man is going to depart the pattern one way or another, right? He isn’t just going to be nominated every fourth year in perpetuity.

Something has to change the perpetuity. If Republicans overwhelmingly supported him in 2016, 2020 and 2024, why would I expect different in 2028?

BS. We’ve been thru plenty of elections without all these wild conspiracies. Jeesk, we have eyes. This didn’t become a thing until Trump and maga following him like a cult figure.

If Trump loses - not getting into the chance for more maga violence like Jan 6th - repub party could go in a direction of a desantis. For a brief period he was a repub star before he ran a a bad campaign during the Repub primaries.

They will just shift to someone who can do a better job of faking being centrist who would also implement P2025 if elected.

They will double down on it, with more of a polish on it to dupe people into voting for them.

Right. The primaries showed exactly that, where Trump annihilated the opposition.
