How close would they have to get to see even slight Fujiwhara Effect?

Those are storms that reached Hurricane strength starting in the Gulf that hit the US, I only went back to 1983.

 

I think it depends on the strength of each system.

 

From what I can tell they won't get close enough to do anything. Moving in the same direction and the smaller area may not even turn into anything.

 

Think I heard DeSantis say today that Florida hotels have agreed to allow pets during emergencies. Did I hear that right? Is that new? Hope it might convince some folks to evacuate who might not otherwise.

 

Thanks for checking this... I don't remember any of these hurricanes starting in the Gulf. I don't even know the names... I draw a blank on these.

 

Hanna in 2020 hit Texas. And Francine earlier this year formed mostly in the Gulf. Various others recently, like Idalia in 2023, have formed just south of the Gulf off of the Yucatan Peninsula.

 

Thanks, it just seems like every bad hurricane that has hit Florida in the last 50 or so years were formed in the Atlantic. But then again, the origins of these hurricanes are not my forte. They always seem to always come from far out in the ocean. I hope we don't see anymore hit Florida...

 

Yep I only included ones that formed in the gulf proper.
The resource I used was only up to 2017.
I think there were a few more but some might not have made it all the way to Cat 1

 

The only good news is that it seems like it may run into some shear the last 12 hours over water which will likely knock the top speed down quite a bit. Fingers crossed on that.

Was watching wfla and they were saying cat 4 maybe 5 before it's downgraded. No other source I've seen such fear to the public. Have fam still in spring hill and Fort misery.

 

Some weird weather. For years it was always SFla n the cone now it's the Gulf Coast and maybe inland CFla.

Family in Pinellas are bailing to our house inland, but major stress as they are not used to this, having moved from Orlando just 2 years ago. Friends in Ft Myers don't know what to do after regretting staying thru ian.
Monday will be decision day for many I suppose. Wouldn't want to be on the road Tues. Good luck to all.
