Report from the ground. I was in Chimney Rock, Saluda, Hendersonville Waynesville today. They have a lot of supplies. They have asked for supplies to only come from approved sources and not random deliveries from citizens. They are coordinating with people like the Red Cross to balance needs so they don’t end up with a warehouse of items not needed or stuff needed more somewhere else. Grocery stores seemed busy and some stuff like camping fuel was out but generally the counters looked normal to a little light. Lowes and Home Depot were busy and looked stocked. Very organized with lots of info for storm victims. Met no one worried about what to eat or drink but worried over the cost of repairs.
We aren't sending billions in cash to Ukraine, MAGAts. We are investing billions in American manufacturers of weapons, artillery, munitions, etc. and sending those items to them. That's investing in the American economy while helping to defeat a pernicious enemy of the US. Be better.
Beyond the partisanship, this gets to the basic question about foreign aid. No matter where it goes, someone can complain that it should have gone to Americans. Or to improve American lives. Who's to say that's wrong?
When a tornado ripped through my neighborhood maybe 4 years ago we got 500 immediately from FEMA. I guess inflation has increased it.

Global warming should reduce the number of hurricanes. Per atmospheric scientist Richard Lindzen, MIT. Global warming heats up the northern latitudes more than the southern ones. Reducing the difference in temperatures between those 2 areas reduces the likelihood of hurricanes

Whether FEMA is properly funded or not they're doing a horrible job and in many cases impeding civilians trying to rescue people and bring in food, water, medical supplies and so on. Government is not very efficient and less so with the DEI hires
