Study Bibles can be pricey, but they have authored study notes. Just a Bible should never cost close to $60 unless it is because of leather.

Yes, they used to be. I would speculate that between Amazon and Christian Book Dist most of them are less than 60 these days. Fortunately, I think my bible library is complete and have not been looking! LOL I just can't understand how so many in the christian world can support so many of these things.
What? You support Bibles in the schools? I wouldn't care if they had one in the library (where it should be correctly placed in the mythology section), but are you saying you support this idea that every class room should have one?
I support them being allowed by everyone who wants one. Don't you? And calling it mythology is a pretty big insult to billions of people.
At tax payer expense? And written to help funnel money to one person? No, I don't. I don't mind if a kid wants to bring his bible to school. But I don't want any kids being forced to accept one group of peoples beliefs. And that is exactly what Pubs have been pushing for years, and specifically what Ok is trying to do. Regarding an insult to billions of people, too bad. Reality is there is not one ounce of evidence that an "all powerful" creator exists. Meanwhile the Bible is full of false information, contradictions, and just plain crazy crap. Yet these people want creationism and revelations taught on equal footing to evolution. If you want to teach your kids that the earth is just 6000 years old, you just go ahead and do it. For my kids, I'd prefer to teach mine about science and how to discover the truth about the origins of the earth.

Uh, it is the topic of the thread that you seem to be supporting. I have no hate in my assessment on faith. I believe most true Christians that I've encountered in life to be very good people. I never argue with them about their religion, as that is personal. Many have been very smart people. Nearly none of them are scientists. I'm a scientist and science disproves much of what the bible attempts to claim as fact. As someone who strongly believes this country was founded on the freedom of religion, I reflexively reject any attempt to establish a state religion. How do you think Jews are going to feel about their kids being taught from the King James Bible? Or Muslims? Or atheists? Sorry that seems a bit grumpy to you. But it is what the modern Pub has been pushing lately. Constitution be damned.
You make many assumptions.i have never asked for anything to be taught or pushed in a public school. And at no point have I supported the topic of the thread. I feel I have clearly NOT supported it. See post #27 where I refer to it as "pure blasphemy".
