Ky has absolutely manhandled us the last few years. Last year was a demolition. No clue what happened to them vs USCe, but their line play was very physical the last 2 weeks. UCF is winnable. Should be able to out athlete them, but they will have the coaching & scheme edge.
The problem with “toss up” games is that Napier ain’t too good at winning them, he loses to teams he should beat, much less the ones that could go either way.
I’ll take it a step further. With Napier and staff, potential blow out losses are guaranteed blow out losses, toss up games become losses, games we have a large talent advantage become toss up games, games we should blow out the opposition become minor blowouts or blowouts after a tight first half of stress or close wins. basically, the staff gets results a notch below the expectations.
I'm not looking at number of wins. I just hope the team doesn't quit. If they don't quit I think we get at least 2.
For those thinking we win 4 more, Vegas is offering you a cream puff with a 4.5 over! I will note that Vegas rarely is wrong (but you could’ve made a mint in Spurrier’s first year betting the point total/spread because bettors had not caught up to how effective his office was). I am sadly in the trust my experience with Napier camp and think 4 more wins is wildly optimistic, and guess 2 is right.
We still have to play no 2,4,5,12 and 13. Our 2 losses are to 8 and 25. Plus ky is receiving votes. They play 8,14 and 15 and have played no ranked teams. Plus, the most they've scored in a game is 21 points. Yet, are asking the same question. There is the silver lining I'm going with in all of this
We’re going to see some ugly losses down the stretch. The natives are going to get very restless. I think lsu, tenn, UGA, ole miss and Texas all beat us by double digits. Kentucky will likely beat us by close to double digits. We have a chance against UCF and FSU but I would put those at 50/50. That puts us at 3-8. I hate to feel this way but if I was betting unemotionally this is how I would bet. Asking this team to get 2 or 3 more wins is a lot.
I have a slightly more negative take. Given that directional school Central Florida is the most winnable game left on our schedule (and we’re an underdog in it), I predict that if we lose this game, we don’t win another this season.
