Just received this note from a SpaceX engineer helping on the ground in North Carolina.
    @FEMA
is not merely failing to adequately help people in trouble, but is actively blocking citizens who try to help! “Hey Elon, update here on site of Asheville, NC. We have powered up two large operating bases for choppers to deliver goods into hands. We’ve deployed 300+ starlinks and outpour is it has saved many lives. The big issue is FEMA is actively blocking shipments and seizing goods and services locally and locking them away to state they are their own. It’s very real and scary how much they have taken control to stop people helping. We are blocked now on the shipments of new starlinks coming in until we get an escort from the fire dept.

So we're thinking FEMA has become evil under Biden because ... why, exactly?

Nolte: Slow-Walking Aid to Hurricane-Ravaged Red America Is All Upside for Kamala (breitbart.com)

Most of the areas ravaged by Hurricane Helene are filled with Trump voters. Asheville, North Carolina is a notable exception, but we’re four weeks and change away from a consequential presidential election and two weeks away from the start of early voting in these hurricane-hit states of Georgia (October 15), North Carolina (October 17), and Tennessee (October 16).

To win a few votes, Joe and Kamala threw the Southern border wide open to fentanyl, killing a record number of Americans and abetting the sex trafficking of countless little kids.

Days after Hurricane Helene, the Biden-Harris Administration finally activated up to 1,000 soldiers to support the delivery of food, water, and medicine to isolated communities. But these efforts are too little, too late.

Compare this to the military’s response after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when thousands of troops were mobilized within seven hours of receiving orders as the situation spiraled out of control.

I think it's disgusting what North Carolina is going through

    https://www.politico.com/news/2024/10/03/helene-trump-politics-natural-disaster-00182419

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, former President Donald Trump has blasted the Biden administration for its handling of the disaster — going so far as to accuse Democratic leaders of ignoring the needs of Republican storm victims.

But a review of Trump’s record by POLITICO’s E&E News and interviews with two former Trump White House officials show that the former president was flagrantly partisan at times in response to disasters and on at least three occasions hesitated to give disaster aid to areas he considered politically hostile or ordered special treatment for pro-Trump states.

Mark Harvey, who was Trump’s senior director for resilience policy on the National Security Council staff, told E&E News on Wednesday that Trump initially refused to approve disaster aid for California after deadly wildfires in 2018 because of the state’s Democratic leanings.

But Harvey said Trump changed his mind after Harvey pulled voting results to show him that heavily damaged Orange County, California, had more Trump supporters than the entire state of Iowa.

Yep, and i’ve read on Twitter that they are checking voter registrations before offering aid. No helicopter rides for conservatives

Seems very counter-intuitive to me. Obama was not in risk of losing New Jersey or New York in 2012, yet many believed the perception that Obama competently handled the aftermath of Sandy gave him a boost nationally. That was so much the case that many Republicans today are still mad at Christie for complimenting Obama on his attentiveness to the problems.

I'm pretty sure we already have two threads on this subject. Merging this with one of them.

IF you are too ignorant to know what is actually going on in our state, just say so. Or better yet, don't say anything at all.

So on the one hand we have people posting right wing propaganda about the lack of support in Helene recovery and on the other hand we have red state governors praising the feds for giving them everything they've asked for.

    Who to believe...hmm.
