    See ET's post #1533 above.

I heard the same over a week ago and posted that Stricklin's head is NOT on the chopping block, at least not in the near future. There seems to be little or no momentum among boosters and other higher ups to do that.

I gathered that they feel other changes need to be made to get things back on track.

Looking at our history, it is hard to disagree with Saban's comments re: we have some problem other than our head coaches. I don't know what that problem is, given that we now have facilities to compete, and NIL $.

But... I do think there is some longstanding systemic problem that needs to be addressed. You can't ignore that our two greatest football coaches walked out on us.

I’m starting to think Bill O’Brien is the one to hire. Has tons of college experience which is usually the negative to NFL guys. He had a winning record in NFL with multiple seasons where he won his division. I’m sorry but it is hard to win in nfl with mostly equal talent. I would be happy with Kiffin for sure but thinking BOb is the one we should hire.

His offense looked to be the weak link at Bama.

Yeah, I saw that (ET's post). It's pretty cryptic (intentionally so, I'm sure). And, I agree, something is wrong systemically. The weird thing is that it seemed that Napier had already changed so much of the system out. Will UAA changes really make a difference on the field? Not sure one way or the other.

As far as our two greatest coaches having left on their own accord, I'm not sure I would blame that on the organization at UF. Spurrier left because he wanted to try his system out in the pros (didn't work), and because winning 10 games per season didn't seem good enough for our top boosters. He has said so out loud. He has also left every organization he worked for on his own accord (not only Florida, but, Duke, Washington, and South Carolina). Meyer left because he let the animal that he created spin out of control. Again, not sure that was the system around him as much as his own inability to keep a locker room and an organization that balanced character with talent. So, to me, the problem was not really what those two legends saw around them at the university during their tenures. But, I do agree that it is starting to look more and more likely that the problem could very well be what has surrounded all the other coaches that followed those two.

The facilities have always been an excuse that I've never thought should have significantly impacted the ability to win, with the only exception being perception of the recruits, which I know, does matter. Both Spurrier and Meyer won consistently without catching up on facilities, though. At any rate, like you said, that's fixed now.

Stricklin needs to go, but, it probably won't happen without a permanent president onboard.

As far as Napier, I think maybe ET's point is that things are moving in the background to make a change, but, that they will only play out publicly much later in the season after a replacement target has been solidified. That's $7M less payout without having to pull an interim coach from a staff that has no good options, too.

Just my two cents. Thanks for the help interpreting Clay.

UK had more preseason All-Americans and more preseason All Conference than Ole Miss. And Ole Miss certainly didn't have a player on the field as good as Dione Walker.

The payout is the same whether we fire him now or at the end of the season

Basically we have to pay him for the rest of this year no matter what

True, but some of our best options may not be options until the regular season is over. At this point, why rush the move and limit your options? I do certainly hope there are back door discussions taking place with all the potential candidates.

And who knows, Billy might surprise us. Sure it’s a long shot, but what have we got to lose in a season that’s already compromised?

What if Florida only loses to Tenn next weekend, UGA, and Texas but beats everyone else and win the bowl game to go 8-5….then what????

If we promote someone to be the interim HC or bring someone else in from the outside to be the HC immediately, aren't you you paying for someone to head coach this year and also for someone to -not- head coach this year? Sounds like more to me, but, I get it that it's probably not double.

I would like to see it but we just don’t have the defensive line. You’ve got to be able to stop the run and we just can’t.

lol i don’t believe it WILL happen, but i’m saying if it did happen. To me, it’s not totally UNREALISTIC that it happens, we would just need to be inspired beyond belief lol

agreed about the DL. I dont think they’re untalented, I just idk.

first Ole Miss drive, 2nd play replay

“Florida has a better pass rush defense than Alabama”

how much money will it cost to hear THAT being said again lol
