The betting services picked UCF last weekend. No faith now.

Colorado gave us the blueprint to beat UCF. Sell out to stop their running game and put Marshall on their best WR. Make KJ beat you with his arm.

which our coaches will completely ignore to run the same stuff they do regardless of opponents and their weaknesses and strengths.

I’m hopeful as it appears as though we played as many freshmen as we’ve ever this last game. The hope is that Billy can redirect quickly given the circumstances.

May have been mentioned, but the line opened at FL -1 and is now at UCF -3. That's a pretty big swing suggesting that the betting public has little faith in FL.

I guess it's a good thing the betting public won't be on the field.

But as you said earlier, take out Samford and Miss State, and our numbers drop way down from what is already down.

    Florida Total Defense

    Total: ...........425.5 yards/game (112th)
    Minus MSU
    and Samford: 512 yards/game

    Florida Total Offense

    Total: ...........424.3 yards/game (50th)
    Minus MSU
    and Samford: 299.0 yards/game

And TCU has a 51st ranked defense and a 25th ranked offense. They had five turnovers against SMU, which heavily contributed to their loss. They are better than we are.

That said, I think we can beat UCF because their pass rush doesn't appear to be strong, with only two sacks against Colorado's horrible OL. If this gives Mertz the time he needs, Graham could shred their defense apart. Their weakness plays against our strength. All we need to do is contain their running game. Of course, that would also mean our coaching staff can outdo Gus Malzahn's crew...

Absolutely! I can almost remember the predictions about Miami and Cam Ward:

Could Cam Ward turn out to be a flash in the pan?

Talent advantage based on team composite on 247 sports-Florida

talent advantage high schcool recruiting - Florida

    talent advantage portal - Florida

    home field advantage - Florida

Rest advantage - Florida coming off a bye

extra time to scout/prepare -Florida, coming off a bye

coaching advantage - UCF, like every other team we play

    Advantage winner- UCF

Sadly, the ability of Florida’s coaching staff to have zero ability to tactically prepare for any opponent but the incredible ability to get less out or more and make talent play less than the sum of their parts is too much to overcome regardless of every advantage that points to a UF win.

If he loses this game and gets fired, the entire team has 30 days to enter the transfer portal, don’t they?

Could be why he hasn’t gotten fired by now.

Here is a great analysis put out by Kohl's (not the department store, but rather the specialist camp - think kickers, punters, snappers).
It provides a pretty good run down of the pros and cons of the portal and the different windows and also the exception for a coach who is fired during the season.

    Real Talk: Know The Risk

While many may be excited about potential new opportunities with transferring, please remember that nothing is guaranteed in the portal. It can be a great, life-changing decision for some, but at the same time, a dead-end for others. There is no overall blue-print, as every athlete's situation is different. Athletes need to take a deep dive into their motivations, current situation, and future goals before weighing the option of entering the transfer portal.

    Transfer Portal Window

    • Transfer Window: April 16th - April 30th, 2024
During the window, players can submit their name to their athletic compliance department and officially enter the transfer portal. You may transfer schools at any time after that, but you must declare and enter the portal during the 15-day window.

    Exceptions To Transfer Window

    • Graduate transfers who have obtained their degree may enter the transfer portal at any time, as they've fulfilled undergraduate requirements the NCAA requires.
    • If a head coach is fired during the season, athletes on that team immediately have a 30-day window to enter the transfer portal if they would like to communicate with other teams.
    Notable Points

    • During this April Window, you DO NOT need to sit out this next season if you transfer. The exception to this is if you transfer cross-conference in the SEC. If you transfer from one SEC school to another, you must sit out this next season.
    • By rule, you may not communicate with other teams unless you are in the portal.
    • If you are currently on scholarship, once you enter the portal your current school has NO OBLIGATION to honor your scholarship and can pull it at any time
    • If you pull out of the portal and decide to stay, your current program has no obligation to give you back your scholarship
    Things To Consider

    • Are you happy with your current football situation?
    • Are you happy with your college academics and social situation? (Think of how this affects your degree and social life as well)
    • Schools may not have scholarships available
    • How do you seriously compare to other college kickers, punters, or long snappers? Be realistic with yourself.
    • You might have an idea of schools in need from your research, but there are no promises on what spots are available or if you'll have a legitimate shot
    • There is no half-in half-out, or "Just seeing what's out there". The portal means you are fully committed to the transfer process and are ready to gamble your current situation.
