NFL defensive coordinators are not only doctors of football they are the neurologists. If they played music it would be jazz. Every time an offense looks unstoppable, defenses adapt and bring them back down to manageable status if not shut them down altogether. It's why the sophomore slump happens to QBs because coordinators learn tendencies and often expose them although a guy like Stroud is still doing well so far. Of course they do turn into cavemen with 2 minutes left and go into prevent...
He also took James Madison from nothing to D1, qualifying for a bowl game. He has won at every level everywhere he’s coached. If the top-tiered guys say no, he deserves a look.
Yeah I like him as well although no one is a guarantee these days. Deboer has a ridiculous record in lower level football and obviously did a masterful job with Washington last year and he had more credibility than cignetti when Bama hired him but he also has shown any sustain at this level yet. Cig was heavily involved in sabans program at Bama initially so its not like he is unaware of what the SEC is. You'd think a coach that is a winner could translate it anywhere especially if they have experience at other positions in the SEC but then again we have seen multiple former sec coordinators neglect massive areas of the program at Florida over our last several hires. Who knows....
Keep in mind you're collecting $26M to buy out your Sun Belt coach to bring in another one. That's a mighty big ask and I don't see donors "settling" for this. Just my 2 cents.
Tua didn’t exactly light it up his first two games before getting hurt. He was abysmal against Buffalo before the injury.
Are there many more changes to the dolphins offense from last year? I don’t really keep up with the NFL that much even though the Dolphins are My team
Very little receiver depth, due to injuries (which it turns out Grier brought in OJB knowing he’d have to sit out the first quarter of the season with a pre-existing injury). We lost our center from last year. Our MVP left tackle has been hurt all year (no surprise, he was expected to retire last year), and the guy we drafted as his replacement was expected by Grier to”redshirt” this year (typical Grier pick). We brought nobody noteworthy in to improve the already suspect line. We brought in Jonnu Smith to improve the non-existent tight end threat, and he has been essentially ignored. The back-up QBs looked mundane at best during the preseason, and Grier did nothing to ensure we had a good back-up in the event Tua was injured (who could imagine Tua getting injured). It has been a total catastrophe.
And the Vikings look pretty smart today with bringing on Sam Darnold, and the Panthers are finally moving the ball with Andy Dalton.
Needs to sit out at least one series due to injury. Having to sit out only one play is the reason why you’re seeing this garbage.
