Yeah, and it's always the same group on here. Pumping each other up and neg voting everyone else.

Seems like a pretty sad way to go thru the day.

No, pointing out that both sides play this crap game. So now we aren't allowed to call out hypocrisy?

    * As an insurance broker what Heritage did/is doing to homeowners is unacceptable. (FYI: there is a reason I special in Middle-Market Commercial clients, not residential). This is not a "new" scheme as I've heard of companies who deny everything with only 20% of folks following through and then maybe only 15% of them stick with it. Eliminates potential claims from 100% to 20% down to only 3% of total. Ugly and illegal.

    * Haven't read every post; so, if this is out of line please advise. Politico remarks how "Trump is politicizing Helene;" and, you know what? He very well probably is.
Did Politico (if it existed) or their like-minded brethren in the media handle Katrina the same way? We know the answer because we know "George Bush hates black people."
Same ole, same ole. Doesn't matter if it's Bush/Trump/Romney or any Republican in between - the worldview of the Left is that they are evil, hateful, disgusting people. Now, we actually get someone who fits that model and everyone is over it. The boy has cried wolf too many times; and, in our time, the local newspaper has helped the boy mislead.

EDIT: Politico was founded in 2007 to focus on politics with fast-paced Internet reporting in granular detail, comparable to the sports analysis of SportsCenter or ESPN

Florida Department of Children and Families on X: "The Hope Bus is coming to James P Gills YMCA of West Pasco in Trinity, FL, today, Monday, September 30th from 10 am to 2 pm. DCF will be providing food, hygiene products, water, and other supplies to those impacted by #HurricaneHelene. James P Gills Family YMCA of West Pasco https://t.co/zKeiuJclLu" / X

Ron Desantis' "Hope Bus" -- giving food and supplies to needy families affected by the Hurricane -- is stopped today in the middle of one of the wealthiest areas in Pasco County (a pretty poor county over all) ... Trinity is 7 miles from the coast and largely unaffected ...

My father in law lives there and didn't lose power or have any flooding problems.

The Katrina response was so poor it created massive reforms at FEMA.

What in the world does that have to do with anything? Did my post say anything about only one side doing anything? It was a phony claim. And, no, it’s not excused because you think politico was unfair to Trump.
    Good grief

The president belongs there. Trump/motorcade/entourage is only in the way. Affected areas have plenty of paper towels.

Yeah, we got really lucky. I'm east of Dale Mabry and we walked down to Bayshore thursday afternoon to see the waves in the bay. They were all traveling parallel with Bayshore but we are closer to the south end. Only had power bump on and off a few times. Not even a lot of rain. Did lose internet for a few hours though.

It's a political stunt by Trump. Personnel of local law enforcement agencies that could be playing a role in search and rescue have to be diverted to providing security for the former president and additionally roads that should be open to facilitate disaster cleanup as well as search and rescue will also have to be closed to ensure security.

Yea, I know the theory but watching them being built it's hard to believe. Hopefully you are correct. Better yet hope they aren't tested.
Then of course there are plenty of existing apartments built with pre Andrew codes. Andrews devastation of seemingly solid apartments/houses is hard to forget.

Gee, I wonder if the chief insurance regulator in Florida will do anything about this.

    Oh.

Florida Republicans are among the best politicians that money can buy in this case one of the state's largest insurers that have done the shopping. One question, who do the governor and the insurance regulator represent, the residents of Florida/policy holders or the industry that responsible for the campaign contributions? My guess is the latter. I have been saying it for decades, the American system of campaign finance is nothing more than legalized bribery and thanks to the SCOTUS even when office holders actually want to address the problem rather than benefit from it they have been prohibited from doing so.

Just got off the phone with Baptist Missions (I think it was) and will be heading up to the Blowing Rock/Boone area to assist with what ever I can week after next. Not sure what they will have me do, but I'm glad I am in a situation where I can help however they can use me.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Exactly what political advantage would Biden have for witholding federal aid to the stricken areas? Yes, Biden isn't running but his veep is. If he does offer aid, then the gop narrative will be that he is buying votes.
