If the front seven would do their job, the backend wouldn’t even get the opportunities.

I haven’t seen anything to go on other than he was highly ranked. It’s pretty bad up front though. Sure would be nice for him to make a difference

Turner has a history of injury correct? That who we got in the portal to solve the problem and he lasted a nanosecond.

Yes, that was a huge red flag for a very experienced player, showing CBN's desperation for depth combined with failure in developing high school recruits. Then burying another transfer who was clearly superior.

Watching the Bama-Georgia game last night was just even more demoralizing. There were many times that the defensive line on both sides, as good as they are, didn't get to the quarterback. However, when the throw was made there were db's or safeties challenging the throw. I rarely see that with our defense. Those teams also disguise their coverages and blitzes so well. Either our coaching is so poor that we don't teach that or our guys are not trusted enough to execute it; or both. I really miss the days when our defenses played with passion and intensity. We may have lost the game but it was a dog fight.

DL have to get off their blocks with better hands and feet, LB have to play toward the ball more quickly, more foot movement from snap, LB have to study film and be aware of situational throw angles, S gotta talk more, D needs a (one) leader on the field who is identified as such, rush extra on 2nd down more often, extra DE on 3rd and long.

McCray has played and hasn't been noticeable at all. Pyburn may not be the most talented, but at least you notice when he's out there.

When the middle of the dline gets pushed around, you can forget about the rest.

The use of the phrase "relative to" shall forever cause me angst. It is right up there with "uhmmmmmmm", "correctable" and the midline.

Although you have a point to an extent, the safeties are an integral part in what it takes for the front 7 to do their job. They frequently need to come up and put away a runner... Which they fail to do at an astounding rate. We should just switch them to referee because they often just stand around and observe.
