Shane Matthews stated on his podcast that UF QBs are getting north of $800k. Maybe he’s full of it, idk.

FSU got into trouble when a booster made a deal with UGA’s OL Amarius Mims for $15k/month ($180k/year).

Im sure he is. But most likely he will be something like $75k coming out of college.

It would be a terrible financial decision to focus on that and likely pass up $300-500k for a year as a QB

Your kid is probably taking legit classes and getting a valuable education. Many of the football players never had the aptitude necessary for a top end degree. Many are just trying to stay eligible by taking tailor made classes and there never was hope of any career associated with an education.

Exactly, and to make matters worse, probably 9 out of 10 signees at Power 5 universities think they are going to play in the league. Only the ones with common sense exert themselves academically enough to go build a career in case their first goal doesn't work out. A lot of these players end up right back in the neighborhoods they came out of, no better off than if they had never left. Its really sad.

I’m really pointing towards the ones that don’t have the aptitude even if they try for the education. Education really has no value to some guy with Slingblade capabilities.

Yep, and they are at big Universities and some will even be gifted a degree even if they can't spell CAT if you spotted the C and the T. And yet some wonder why big-time college sports got the reputation of using kids to make bank.

It’s just how the business is run. You need the athletes and football players in general aren’t recruited for their brain power. I do however applaud the ones who get an education based on their football talent. They’re my favorite players usually.

Sluka had degree from Holy Cross. He is a grad transfer as Holy Cross has no graduate programs. His story is that he was promised $100K by UNLV QB coach. UNLV says deal not in writing. Hmmm. Undercurrent was backup QB was as good if not better. Messy situation, but optics not good for Sluka.

Should have played on and sued later.

Can you sue someone for promising you someone else’s money?

That man is only as good as his word as far as I’m concerned. Yes, I have contracts for my business, but if I thought I needed it, I wouldn’t do the business.
