In any large group of people, there will be crime and "bad apples." But in general, immigrants commit less crime than citizens of the US. So, it is fear porn, especially coupled with the fact that violent crime is down in the US, with murder rates down over 11% YoY. One would think that with our "open borders" and millions of "illegals" roaming our streets that crime would be rampant! But it's not.

And one way to reduce crime would be a better system of knowing who is in the country. The majority of immigrants come to look for work. If we allowed them to do so legally under an expanded guest worker program, we'd know how many were here, and could, as part of their work visa agreement, deport them if they are ever found guilty of a felony crime or a combo of misdemeanors.

In addition, for new entries along the border looking for a guest worker visa, we can, as part of the deal, run background checks on them. No entry if an immigrant has a significant criminal history.

Wouldn't be a perfect solution, but it would be better than the current system. And likely reduce crimes committed by immigrants, which is already at a very low rate.

 

According to the article the combined number of rapists and murderers totaled 28,000. There are an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in the US. Doing the math that's well under one percent of the total. According to Trump the number of violent criminal illegals is in the millions so yes Trump is making up shit to scare people.

How about the previous 10 years?

 

a) Are these stats demonstrably true?

b) If so, how would they compare to a per-capita relative comparison of similar crimes by citizens?

c) Do MAGA voters consider the latter statistic on sexual assault a good thing, since they are voting for someone adjudicated guilty of sexual assault? Or do MAGA voters suddenly view sexual assault as a negative thing?

d) Might increased levels of sexual assault from immigrants actually sway MAGA voters in favor of allowing more immigrants, since they clearly have no negative feelings towards sexual assault?

 

Our visitors from south of the border are better-behaved than we are. Fewer crimes per capita in essentially all categories of crime.

 

Good point. It would have been a great start. the country wants a stronger border, Harris should bring this bill up more frequently. It would be effective to help neutralize trumps advantage - especially as he helped squash it
