I can't imagine what the motivation would be to point out corruption in that particular state.

Obviously completely indefensible although as a matter of record the Biden Administration DOJ indicted the perpetrators back in 2022.
U.S. Attorney Announces Federal Charges Against 47 Defendants in $250 Million Feeding Our Future Fraud Scheme
The Department of Justice announced today federal criminal charges against 47 defendants for their alleged roles in a $250 million fraud scheme that exploited a federally-funded child nutrition program during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“These indictments, alleging the largest pandemic relief fraud scheme charged to date, underscore the Department of Justice’s sustained commitment to combating pandemic fraud and holding accountable those who perpetrate it,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland. “In partnership with agencies across government, the Justice Department will continue to bring to justice those who have exploited the pandemic for personal gain and stolen from American taxpayers.”

The answer is to identify and stop corruption, not stop education funding because of corruption that was found. Diverting funding to private education would likely result in even more corruption that would be more difficult to control.

It’s seemingly more common in large districts located in blue states.

It happens everywhere, it’s just bigger news when it’s a bigger district.
I have relatives in Iowa, would spend my summers there in a small town as a kid. They hired a new superintendent in those years who came with great recommendations from a previous stop. They found out about a year in he was embezzling school money. They couldn’t decide what to do, but soon realized the effort to recover money that was likely already spent wasn't worth it, and I’m sure small town pride said they didn’t want to admit being duped, so they gave him an ultimatum to leave along with a nice recommendation and sent him on his way, he agreed they didn’t have to dispute his remaining contract money. They traced him back and found he had likely taken three or four districts in a similar way. Just didn’t make news because they didn’t want it to, and few would have cared about a town of 3k.
But where there’s a trough there are pigs.

I can't read a 120 page doc at the moment, but a quick perusal suggests that the fraud was committed by a nonprofit - Feeding our Future. State auditors uncovered the fraud and acted upon it. This was non MN gov acting nefariously, but may have lacked a degree of vigilance.

The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) has publicly stated that the department’s “fast action and diligence launched the investigation that stopped the fraud and led to dozens of indictments.” 1 However, given the size of the alleged fraud scheme, it is reasonable to question what else MDE could have done, or should have done, to prevent or stop the alleged misappropriation of public funds.

Seems like I recall where a red state hired well known political figure to run a college and not long after resigned for personal reasons, but at the same time was found to be hiring and paying ungodly amounts to political buddies as employees and contractors and also spending excessive amounts on entertainment.

    maybe I dreamed this up.

A saw an article once about financial corruption in the military. And that means we should cut all spending on the military.

    Obviously.

Obviously the answer is LESS money towards education. It’s not like we are dealing with an ignorance epidemic in this country or anything.

I thought we cleared this up in another thread. What, for god's sake, is your definition of 'corruption'?

Trusting *any* nonprofit is a sucker's bet. Every time.
