I hope so Skink, I really do, I'm rooting for our Gators, but UF needs to "show us". Ms State is not a good team and rolled up 250 on us.
Maybe just because of the recent beef we have had with them. But this wont even be their biggest game of the season on paper IMO. Emotionally yes just because of the in-state implications. But they are looking good to be in contention for the Big12, which will be their ticket to the playoff. So a loss to us would only hurt them for the At Large bid which they likely would miss regardless.
It was definitely rocking as good as ever against Tennessee last year, but you have to give the fans something to cheer about if you want an advantage
And what did Napier do with that rocking stadium after halftime? Turtle up and quiet the crowd with 3 and outs. Zero killer instinct. Yes I'm piling on at this point.
The issue I see isnt the quality of our competitors or theirs it is the issue of having to play a triple option rushing offense that intersperses passes to break down stacking the line of scrimmage. Its tough to play against and requires "very disciplined" players on defense not screwing up their assignments. Two guys going after the wrong guy equals 60 yard tds. As far as Im concerned we have the most undisciplined, poor assignment defense Ive ever seen by a factor of 5. Even against a base defense someone (or 2 someones) always screw up. That is exactly the wrong thing to do against a Malzahn offense. And of course you have no adjustments during the game to get those things ironed out. Its a bad match up with our current state of affairs.
With the extra week off Im sure Billy will be working hard on his six plays he runs and maybe just maybe practice one of his glorious trick plays like that beauty he ran against the loaded box versus FSU. His trick plays are high yield (for the other team). An extra week of prep for our team will probably allow them to coach more which will probably make things worse for the team.
I think I may turn off the announcers and play Benny Hill music during our defensive series...probably more appropriate.
It wouldn’t take much to get some juice back into the Swamp. It’s been pretty miserable last few years, but I just can’t help but hope for a miraculous turnaround. Like maybe players and coaches have an epiphany and we start playing solid defense. Stranger things have happened. After Miami and Texas A&M I was ready to fire everyone and even after Miss State I was totally deflated the way our defense played. Something has to change very soon. As much as I hate to say it, even our best wins with CBN always seem blah. He definitely doesn’t go for the kill when, on rare circumstances, we get the upper hand. (See Tennessee win last year).
Yep, kind of like the Miami game. Loud cheering well into the third quarter, then people lost enthusiasm when we got down three TDs. Don't let anyone tell you they weren't loud as ever up until that point, though.
me too but thinking back to last season, he slowed down considerably the 2nd half of the year and was regressing, along with everyone, then too
Well, we did play well on the one speed option play miss state ran last week. Maybe the option is the only offense our defense can play against? Ok, maybe not.
I guess when nobody knows what the hell they're doing you can have people in spots the offense doesn't expect negating trick plays out of incompetence. Maybe that was the process all along...Im seeing it now!...8-D chess.
