According to the TECO Outage Map, my office condo complex and 670 other structures have been without power since yesterday afternoon. No anticipated restoration time and one more reason to stay home. A couple of flickers at my home. I went to go outside last night and the wind was blowing so hard it felt like an adult was outside trying to shove the door back in my face. Don't ever remember feeling wind that strong.

The Hillsborough County Courthouse will remain closed today after initially only closing Wednesday and Thursday.

In perspective, though, these are trivial in relation to what a lot of people have or will experience.

    Bottom of a pint glass
It was dark when I left my house this morning for work so I couldn't really assess anything but look like we came out okay. Everyone good?

Glad you all are doing fine. I kind of wished CNN would stop making this an extinction level event. Their home page shows "strongest hurricane ever to hit the big bend area". Umm, haven't we've been talking about Michael that hit that area in 2018? I used to count on CNN at least getting their facts right, but they have been wrong on almost every article they post now - meaning sometimes there are grammar errors and sometimes when they drop the ball on the facts. I think this time it's part of their agenda to work people up in a frenzy on climate change because really outside of the area, nobody evens knows what a hurricane is, much less know facts about them. I wished I could send them an email correcting them, but good luck finding a contact. I'm doing this because those people who went through Michael were still picking up the pieces to this day. They shouldn't be forgotten.

Our security cams showed the surge reaching our house from both the river and street side after 11pm. Then our internet cut out. Water definitely made it in. Not sure how high it got.

You are right that Michael landed not too far away, but technically it landed west of the big bend.

I don't think anyone is minimizing Michael. They're saying it came ashore in a different area. Michael's center hit Mexico Beach, nearly 100 miles west of where
    Helene's center came ashore.

There was a house fire a couple of blocks over from me.
Also heard that Bayshore was really flooded and someone's house burned down because their Tesla in the garage caught fire.

Driving to work this morning I was weaving around cars that tried to drive through high water and flooded out.

Almost a worst case for the West Coast. Always heard a hurricane coming in like that pushes the water in all the way up the coast line. Looks like every low coastal area from Pinellas up got it bad. I'm seeing a lot of houses with water inside in Pinellas, Pasco, and Hernando ....thankfully the area of land fall is sparsely populated... Insurance will continue to get out of control in Florida, though

I'm in ATL. Knock on wood, it's been pretty casual here. Rain for two days but heavier stuff was to the west. They were talking about gusts to 80mph but doesn't seem like we saw anything close to that.
I will prob have to clear some trails for my mt bike group later in the week.

I'm now hearing that there are house fires all over South Tampa because of Tesla's getting flooded by sea water. You can smell the smoke in the air.

Just to show the scope. We are already seeing strong gusts on the coast in NC. Crazy how big the outer reaches are.

Maybe you should get your facts straight because Michael did not land in the Big bend, it landed in the panhandle. Not the same specific landfall area.

Words mean things and your either purposeful distortion of them or ignorance of the region is blatant.

    Crazy.
Traffic is a mess and bridges still closed. People trying to get around like it's a normal day. Yes I'm one of them.
The fire trucks are having a hard time getting around.
Can't imagine how apocalyptic it must be in the direct path of the storm.

Another reason why Musk will never market an amphibious Tesla. (at least with current battery technology.)
