A republican governor said six years was enough. But a Democrat convicted him. A democrat pushed for the death penalty.

Pinning the blame on the next governor who said that 6 years was enough is nonsense and just more of the typical partisan idiocy.

My question is always do States with the death penalty have lower levels of homicides?

If it doesn't deter, it's not serving its purpose.

It's "partisan idiocy" to put the blame on the governor who dismantled the group investigating the conviction and then executed the man over the objections of the prosecutor, the victim's family, and the defense? Suuuuuuuuuure.

Actually the prior Democratic governor granted him clemency. The subsequent republican governor revoked it.

He and the corrupt Bush/Trump SCOTUS justices killed him because they could.

And in most cases, it is much more costly to execute someone than let them rot in jail because of all the legal battles involved.

Lol. The Dem prosecutor that got him convicted and the Dem prosecutor that sought the death sentence? THAT prosecutor?

Lol. He is the MOST to blame in this death.

And what real evidence for overturning this existed? This is not the same as the case in the OP.

But to let the Democrat that convicted him off the hook is just partisan idiocy.

Explain to me why you arent calling out the Democratic prosecutor for pushing for the death penalty and gaining the conviction and why you arent praising the Republican governor that gave the man 6 additional years of appeals and due process?

Oh wait. I know. Because ya'll want to make your empty "pro-life" jokes and the truth wouldnt fit.

Tilly, the "Dem prosecutor" who sought the death penalty was primaried six years ago. He hasn't been in office since 2019.

    So?
Did he get the man convicted?
Did he seek the death penalty?

I mean people are literally blaming the people that upheld the Democratic prosecutor's conviction more than they are blaming the Democratic prosecutor who won it.

    Think about that.

Bob McCulloch is an asshole. There's some evidence he's a racist asshole. He deserves plenty of criticism. But he's not being criticized here because he's not in elected office anymore. Parsons is the one who set this thing in motion. He's the one who could have stopped it. That's why he's receiving the most severe criticism. And FWIW, I do applaud Eric Greitens for doing the right thing. He's not a good man, but he absolutely did the right thing.

The current prosecutor tried to fix this mess. The victim's family asked them not to kill this man. The defense and Innocent Project tried to stop it. Why was he put to death over the wishes of the current prosecutor, the victim's family, and the defense? Because of Mike Parsons, Andrew Bailey, and the Republicans on the Missouri and U.S. Supreme Court. This was an appalling injustice, and everybody who played a role in this acted reprehensibly.

The democrat who prosecuted him and sought to have him killed doesnt deserve criticism... because he isnt in office anymore?

    That's the criteria?

Did you read my post? Because it says exactly the opposite of what you're implying it says. I don't think "He deserves plenty of criticism" could make any clearer what I believe. I explained to you why he isn't receiving it.

You did and I should acknowledge that
Perhaps a recap is needed. A snarky (typical) "pro-life" comment was made. I responded with some facts that a pro life governor tried to help the guy on death row, placed there by the democrat.

I guess it would be nice to see some of you on the left call out your own every now and then. Correct their nonsense.

There are plenty of us on the right who do it to "our own" , but not many of you on the left.

You guys consistently let that stuff go unchecked.

    Why is that?

We primaried our own, Tilly. That's why McCulloch is no longer in office. It took too long to happen, but better late than never.

I doubt anyone here primaried anyone, but someone here was sure quick to blame this on "pro-lifers"...but I know you get my point.

Ultimately the same bloc that overturned Roe condemned this man to death in the end, so I can think of 6 specific "pro-lifers" that have never met someone on death row they didnt want to execute post haste.

I suggest you take a look at their death penalty track record if you think this is some kind of outlier

I suggest the comment made In this thread was about this case, likely from someone who didn't know the facts. My guess is this wasn't the only such prosecution from said Democrat prosecutor.
