damages verdict appeal being heard today. over $500M and counting. Will he have another to get Melania to show up at another campaign event?

Trump, On Hook For $489 Million Civil Fraud Verdict, To Send Lawyers To Appeals Court (msn.com)

Lawyers for Donald Trump are set to appear at an appellate court for oral arguments in New York on Thursday as they try to overturn a staggering civil fraud verdict — now nearing $500 million with interest — that the former president and his co-defendants were slapped with earlier this year.

after losing the appeal, I am sure that he will then offer to settle for a fair 15% of the debt owed. I hope I live long enough to see him have to pay for his crimes. I fear the court is going to order a retrial based on some obscure thing that may have been on the record that may have been considered an official act.

If only they would give me unlimited immunity, we will not have to storm the capital to demand a recount..his last negotiation??

are the judges going to dismiss or reassign?? based on no harm, no foul defense? interested to track this

Appellate judges skeptical of New York civil fraud case against Trump (msn.com)

Members of the five-judge panel on the Appellate Division - the mid-level state appellate court hearing arguments in Trump's appeal - appeared concerned about possible overreach by James.

They asked what constraints applied to the law James cited in bringing the case - one that is typically used to go after fraudsters who target vulnerable consumers.

"How do we draw a line or at least put up guardrails? Justice John Higgitt asked.
Justice David Friedman pressed Vale on whether there was any precedent for the attorney general suing over transactions involving sophisticated parties where neither "lost any money."

"Every case that you cite involves damage to consumers, damage to the marketplace. ... We don't have anything like that here," Friedman said.

Just from the article, it sounds like they are inclined to reverse. But you never really know what an appellate judge is going to do until the judges rule.

My speculation—heavy emphasis on speculation—based on the article is that the final judgment will be reversed (Trump will win on legal grounds).

Are you saying that nothing happened on January 6, 2021? Are you saying that democracy was not in any danger during Trump's rebellion? Or do you not care about democracy and would be o.k. with a dictatorship?

Trump had no reason to threaten anyone in 2016 - 2020. He was the president, and everyone had to kowtow to him and listen to what he had to say. He felt a need to be threatening after he was voted out of office. He does not handle rejection well.

Trump assumed during his first term that he would automatically be re-elected, because if the con worked once on uneducated Americans, it would certainly work again. Didn't happen, so he tried an insurrection to try to hold on to power. Now that he's trying to regain the presidency, he's willing to throw entire ethnic groups to the wolves (the ignorant masses) with his lies to scapegoat them for America's problems. (This was something that Hitler did to seize power in Germany, BTW.) Do you think Haitian immigrants to the U.S. feel threatened, or do you think they like the attention?

Trump learns about World War II. Someone told him about it last week. He learned that Russia defeated the Nazis. (He is too ignorant to understand that Russia could only defeat Germany with the extensive material assistance of the U.S.) That means that no one can oppose the Russian juggernaut. Trump believes we should just give Russia whatever they want so they don't (have to) fight anymore. That should be enough to cash the check from the Kremlin.

He also thinks that war with Russia is "not pleasant". As a draft dodger, he is uniquely qualified to comment on how unpleasant war is.

Trump praises Russia's military record in argument to stop funding Ukraine's fight

Maybe Trump could someday be courageous enough to ask the question: what happens if Russia doesn't win? Will the check bounce?

Trump thinks that the U.S. is "in" the Ukraine War, even though we are only donating weapons to Ukraine. That's why he wants to get us "out" of the war. Is he really that stupid?

Trump also tells lies about how much aid the U.S. has provided Ukraine, claiming that Biden provides $100 billion every time Zelenskyy visits, and that the U.S. has provided $300 billion in aid to Ukraine. It has been $56 billion, as of Sept. 6th of this year, according to the State Department.

And now its $500 watches unless you want one of the limited edition watches for $100,000. The Biden-Harris economy must be great. Maybe now quit complaining about the price of eggs.

Musk has banned accounts with links to this document (because he’s such a free speech purist) but the TOC is revealing.

This deserves so much more attention. Musk has been trumpeting his absolutism of “free speech” since buying a Twitter. Now that he has made his deal with Trump, he is doing everything possible to restrain the Left and negativity towards right-wing posts.

Some are claiming the accounts doxxed Vance. Not sure that is true, just what I've seen in some comments.

That came from Musk as his justification for suspending the publisher's account.

Some speculation that Trump dislikes Zelenskyy because Zelenskyy is a far better leader than Trump. And he is undoubtedly is. Zelenskyy is probably the best wartime leader since Winston Churchill.

Opinion - The real reason Trump hates Zelensky

The Saudis and others funded Musk's purchase to help tip the election by squelching major bad Trump news and amplifying right wing posts. It was in effect criminal as an in kind campaign contribution.

Ironically at the same time Trump is threatening to, after he becomes president, go after Google for allegedly promoting negative stories about Trump and positive stories about Harris.

Trump the Idiot-in-Chief proposes a very large faucet that should be opened to allow water from the Northwest to flow into southern California. Apparently, he doesn't know that some parts of the U.S. have something called mountains, which could act as obstacles for the water flow. He also doesn't seem to understand that Canada is an independent country, and the U.S. just can't take Canada's water. Maybe he thought the water would naturally flow downhill from Canada, since Canada is above the U.S. on a map?

Why would anyone want four more years of this moron (with all due respect) in charge? Seriously, he seems to have the working mind of a 4-year-old. Embarrassing. This has to be up there with injecting bleach or taking horse pills or fish tank cleaning chemicals to treat Covid. Harris should keep him around as a court jester after she is elected, just so everyone can laugh at his "ideas".

Trump the Idiot has a new concern: nuclear warming. He does not believe in global warming, which actually exists, but is more concerned about nuclear warming, which does not exist. He also has said in the past that rising sea levels will create more oceanfront property, so rising sea levels are a good thing for real estate, and therefore a good thing for society. Rising sea levels do not increase the amount of oceanfront property. They move the oceanfront to a higher elevation, destroying trillions of dollars worth of real estate and flooding roads. The amount of oceanfront property actually reduces, as the land sinks below the rising sea. And that includes Mar-a-Lago. Embarrassing that a presidential candidate AND an oceanfront property owner could be this stupid.
