1 month of lower border arrests doesn't mean it's a flawed campaign message. I don't care who is president as I won't be voting for either of these crap candidates, but trying to paint that the border is all of a sudden "fixed" is BS as well.
Remain in Mexico was a humanitarian nightmare. How do we prevent this from spilling over into the US if we were to re-enact the policy is a legit question. Especially when you consider several factors, such as the Mexican border town are ill-equipped to handle tens of thousands, if not more immigrants waiting at the border. And every day, thousands of people enter the US on foot, including thousands of students. Would we not be creating a potential ticking timebomb situation with thousands of immigrants with no protections, staying in towns just across the border with no infrastructure to deal with the situation, and children legally crossing into the US daily for school? Or, is someone just going to not address this potential problem, call me stupid, and declare victory? And let's talk about the costs. Current Border Patrol Budget is $7.3 billion. How much more are we willing to spend for a "secure" border? Also a legit question.
Again, can't answer simple, legitimate questions. Calls other stupid. Thinks he's winning!!! Instead of insulting, which you are really insulting your own intelligence, try answering the questions. How do we prevent a spillover of humanitarian issues that would be occurring just over our border, with tens of thousands of people or more waiting, and thousands of people crossing legally on a daily basis? Or, are you too stupid to even address this issue, because you are naïve and believe this won't be a problem?
Still can't answer simple questions on a debate board! Prefers to insult instead. Claims he's winning, but everyone really knows those who refuse to answer do so because they cannot! Which really makes him a loser.
Poster knows how to proceed if he want's me to engage with them. Until they can admit they were wrong on covid they will continue to be laughed at. Simple solution. Can't fix stupid.
Nice deflection. I was wrong on the NI versus vaccine immunity. But that's because the first data was seriously flawed. Still wasn't wrong on the benefits of getting vaccinated as hybrid immunity was best overall. Wasn't wrong on anything else, and have the studies to prove it. But this discussion isn't about COVID. It's about the border. And why having tens of thousands waiting in Mexico in towns that are ill-equipped to handle this amount of people right next to a border crossing where thousands of kids are legally crossing daily is a bad idea. Especially since the last time we did remain in Mexico, we know it was an humanitarian nightmare. How do we prevent this from spilling over into the US side?
Like I said, Can't fix stupid. Anyone thinking it was right to keep schools shut down is either an idiot or extremely ignorant. Still won't admit it so I will continue to just laugh at the poster for not admitting they were wrong.
We can argue if the school closures, which did reduce the incidence of COVID in the community, was worth the loss of education for kids in another thread. I'll argue the saving of hospitalizations and lives was worth it, especially since children are resilient, and can always learn later. Whereas the dead stay dead forever. Now, back to the question. We know remain in Mexico created a humanitarian crisis during the pandemic, when there were smaller number of asylum seekers, and less people crossing the border on foot on a daily basis. If we re-enact the policy with more asylum seekers staying right on our doorstep, and more legal foot traffic coming in daily, how do we avoid the mess we're helping create in Mexico from spilling over on to our side? Anyone willing and able to have an honest discussion willing to respond? Or am I just going to get insults about my intelligence from someone who refuses to discuss this?
Can't fix stupid. Won't admit they were wrong. Will not try to have an honest conversation with someone who is either lying or is so ignorant they aren't worth my time. Anyone thinking school closures and forcing kids to get the vaccine is batshit crazy. No middle ground here.
Following data that clearly showed that closing schools saved lives is batshit crazy! I'm happy to have an honest conversation. But honest conversation consists of people who can reasonably disagree. You can argue the lives saved wasn't worth the cost to kids' education. And that's a position one can reasonably take. But to not follow all the data that shows yes, closing schools reduced the rate of COVID transmission? That's batshit crazy. Now, onto a completely separate topic, can anyone explain why having tens of thousands of people camped on our S. border that caused a major humanitarian crisis last time would be a positive thing, considering this time around, there would be more people camping out, and more legal foot traffic crossing? 95 refuses to answer and is hiding, like a coward, because he knows he is unable to answer this logically. So instead, he dodges deflects.
I'm not the coward avoiding answering questions. I'm also the one bringing receipts about school closures. You're too funny!
Low information posters turn every thread into a butt hurt vaccine thread. Debating with that group is pointless.
Don't worry, the "border can't be solved" crowd will be along to either say "It's from Fox news, so it's fake" or "it's a humanitarian crisis to not let these people into the US". Can't fix stupid... Tens of thousands of illegal immigrants with sexual assault, murder convictions roaming US streets: ICE data Tens of thousands of illegal immigrants with sex offenses and homicide convictions are loose on the streets, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) data provided to lawmakers this week. The agency provided data to Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, about national data for illegal immigrants with criminal charges or convictions. The data, as of July 2024, is broken down by those in detention, and those who are not in detention -- known as the non-detained docket. The non-detained docket includes illegal immigrants who have final orders of removal or are going through removal proceedings but are not detained in ICE custody. There are currently more than 7 million people on that docket. Those include 62,231 convicted of assault, 14,301 convicted of burglary, 56,533 with drug convictions and 13,099 convicted of homicide. An additional 2,521 have kidnapping convictions and 15,811 have sexual assault convictions. There are an additional 1,845 with pending homicide charges, 42,915 with assault charges, 3,266 with burglary charges and 4,250 with assault charges.
The border can't be 100% secure without spending billions upon billions more than we are already spending. But want to make things better? Support a Gang of 8 style plan. This way, those coming in to work can do so legally, after a background check. Already a convicted felon? Then don't let them in. And if an immigrant on a work visa is convicted of a felony, then it's immediate deportation after time served. With better tracking because immigrants won't be sneaking in but instead registering for a work visa upon arrival, we'll have much better knowledge of who is here on a visa, and who should be deported after conviction/sentence. Or, we can spend billions on a boondoggle wall.
I'm old enough to remember when Donald Trump completely closed the southern border. It was either that, or in 2019 (the last year pre-covid) there was the highest number of illegal crossings since before Obama was President. Hmmmm....which was it again?
