This can easily happen as we saw with Rashada. 3rd parties making promises they can't or won't fulfill.

This one is a little different in that he's already played 3 games and now wants out. At least the Rashada mess was in the off season.

We shoulda just let them have PlayStation's and Dodge Challengers when they were satisfied with that. As most kids are.

    What a mess.

College football is a job now and these are paid employees.

Wonder how many of you continue going to work for free or not getting compensated what you were promised when hired?

Were the “unfulfilled” commitments based on a promise to renegotiate his deal if he played well? GoGo made him a much better commodity, coming from an unpaid gig at Holy Cross for 3yrs.

He can still sell signed T-shirts... But getting pay-for-play is still supposed to be illegal. He should know that. And that is why I do NOT want the schools to control that NIL money in a way that makes this a pay-to-play deal or in any way shape or form an employment deal.

I don't think the SCOTUS dissolved amateurism in college sports just because they ruled you can now legally make money on your Name, Image and Likeness.

    "Work for free" .... SMH.

Are high school kids working for free when they play sports?

College athletics is more akin to a paid internship. The idea of work for free is ridiculous.

Now entering insanity land. If his claim that there are unfulfilled commitments is true then he could’ve handled that after the season, and he likely would’ve been compensated even more handsomely. Instead he does it now and looks like a d-bag quitter.

But it seems like the truth is that some other school made this offer to him and redshirt for a better deal next year. Which makes him look like an even bigger d-bag quitter.

I have a problem with football coaches making 7 and 8 digit salaries talking crap about college kids looking to get paid but there is a nuance to arguing what's been going on. I just don't agree with the "working free" argument when kids leave college with soul crushing debt from paying for education that is free to athletes not to mention tutoring, nutrition, exposure, training etc. Has the game shifted due to the amount of money brought in? Sure and kids should be able to make money of their NIL but I don't agree with the paid employee status. They should get free Healthcare after however. Lots of alternatives and ways to "pay" players but I'm not going to ever say they work for free.

    Just my take.

The money is there to pay the players. UF will spend well over $100M to get rid of and hire new coaches this coming off season. Unfortunately, there are some shady collectives out there. IMO, the money needs to come directly from the schools to keep everything above board. States like Virginia and Georgia have passed legislation to buffer the Universities from the NCAA. Tennessee has added a 10% "talent fee" on their tickets.

You can have your opinion on what players should or shouldn't get, but it's 2024 and players are getting paid to play.
