OK, we all know that if Napier is fired, we’re going to lose our recruiting class and how many players? I wonder where Lagway would go? Georgia? Ole Miss? Stricklin to Napier: You need to fire some of your assistants. If you don’t, you’re going to get fired. You need to get a new Offensive Coordinator , preferably with SEC experience. You need to get a new Offensive Line coach, preferably with SEC experience. New Defensive Coordinator, SEC experience New Strength and Conditioning Coordinator There IS some good on this team, mostly on the offensive side.
If Stricklin fires Napier, he is next. Do the math. It is a $26 million dollar mistake on top of the mistakes he made previously. Bringing in new coaches is just prolonging the inevitable.
I get that, but they have buyouts, too. Billy Napier forced the admin to devote more resources to football than ever before. The next guy will demand more, and more NIL. Billy had a top three recruiting class, but could not keep it. It only makes sense that the next coach demands more NIL to improve recruiting.
I think people dream up scenarios that would appease themselves as fans, while neglecting to consider other factors. For example, what big time coach wants to work where the AD makes the decisions about their staff? Yes, sometimes a coordinator move is forced due to necessity, but if you think Stricklin is going to tell Billy to get rid of this guy and get rid of that guy and the other guy, I think you're dreaming.
Exactly, SS hired and paid BN millions to make those decisions. If he can’t make them correctly, then SS failed at his hire and should be held accountable.
If you have to tell your coach who to hire, because he doesnt know who to hire, then you have the wrong coach. The end
What top coordinator in his right mind would come to UF with a coach that is basically fired pending paperwork?
Can we please leave your opinion of the players out of these scenarios... That is NOT what the focus should be on. If you want to talk about firing the head coach then keep it about the coaches because talking about the players is guessing at best and detrimental at worst... not important to the main point. You don't know what these players will do if Napier is let go. As for Stricklin... I doubt he gets fired if he fires Napier. Let's try and make this about one subject at a time. The fix you mentioned might well be too late for Napier to implement. He made 4 defensive side hires this off season, and at least one of them is a complete career killer. He hired and dud DC, and that's on him... he has no one to blame but himself. We all saw how the WRONG DC ended Mullen/s coaching career in Gainesville, and now Napier has repeated that same mistake. Maybe the AD should have warned Napier ahead of time on getting the right DC. We need an all football only AD to go with the all sports AD...
1. No quality assistant will come here with a coach on such a hot seat 2. Good luck selling that to boosters that would have to fund the payout for these fired coaches
It’s …just …over. Everyone sees it. The only way BN saves his job is to win 6 more games. No one …and I mean no one, has any confidence that it will happen. Despite what SS says, if you plugged him up to a polygraph, it would be the same. This is a circle the wagons moment to see where things are after Kentucky. Not with Napier, but to filter the list of his replacement down to a top 3. Any thoughts of BN being in the UF football equation went away 3 weeks ago.
