It’s definitely a bit of both. Frugality and putting a winning product on the field. They kinda go hand in hand though. Throwing money at it with all the proper structure in front of the money won’t get the job done either. It’s a mess on all fronts right now.
And we need a top five payroll along with a top five paid coach. Everything imaginable has to be top five. If you find a bargain coach as ole Miss did, they quickly get a new contract or move along if contract , staff, and roster aren’t provided. Hopefully we have that structure available in the future if we can get the ball rolling.
You have to build the foundation before you build the house. Right now, we have no foundation. That is why we can't afford to fire Billy yet...
Well, go ahead and start writing then. Just leave that TO: line blank. I'll hand carry it to him for you.
Does anyone seriously think Tre would not go to the NFL in his junior year? I don't see the point of him redshirting. All he has is one more year and he would be NFL eligible. I'm pretty sure he would be a hot commodity in the NFL
Except I think we can afford to fire him, we just aren’t organized for a new hire and all the other infrastructure we’ve been trying to play catch up on.
Our foundation is 1000 PCT better now than when Mullen was here. We have a state of the art facility. Napier, despite his other failings, has done a lot to improve the organizational functions. I suspect it is patterned after Bama and Uga. Our NIL is worlds better and from what I've read the money is top 5. I think Saban didn't know wtf he was talking about. We HAVE had in the past a screwed up NIL, behind in facilities and organizational structures. We don't have those NOW. And people are talking as of we do have these problems now. Not one of the M coaches failed here because of any of the above factors. They failed because of their own limitations. Muschamp put a crap offense on the field consistently. That's something that Florida just doesn't tolerate. McElwain, but we all know what the shark jumper did. Mullen, does anyone think that if he had recruited worth a crap that he wouldn't still be here or that if he hadn't quit on the program. And now Napier. Does anybody think that any of these other problems that have been listed are his problem. No they aren't. What we may have is a problem at the head of the athletic department in someone who is not making good choices for head coaches. Because everything that's failed since muschamp has been because of the coaches not because of any of these other issues. So, Saban and the rest of them who are absolutely taking the opportunity to take a huge dump all over the University of Florida can go pound sand. There is no reason that a good coach can't win here.
It’s pretty clear than none of us are the check writers but the fans do collectively generate a ton of cash and we deserve to see a decent product for price of admission.
I agree for the most part with a caveat - we are assuming that organizationally things are better since Napier focused on this. However …Napier also told us / believes this is the best and deepest team and that our o line and d line are stout, etc etc. and then we see them play and the team is just so bad. since we cannot see what goes on behind the scenes…I am hesitant to believe that the off field organization stuff is truly great and running smoothly or is it also a mirage like the on field play? We can’t see behind the scenes.
The foundation I was referring to is the President and AD being hired and aligned. I agree that the facility is part of the foundation though.
