No, people did not stop trying to sneak across the border, they just couldn’t do it due to movement restrictions across the globe. This isn’t even a matter of opinion or interpretation. It was well documented at the time. https://www.wsj.com/articles/coronavirus-pandemic-slows-illegal-migration-to-u-s-11586481423

Still not explaining why if Trump secured the border his first term, there were more crossings in 2019, his third year as President than the prior two?

And COVID was absolutely the reason numbers dropped in 2020. First, people all over the globe were scared to leave their homes. And second, the pandemic allowed the US to enact Title 42, or remain in Mexico.

A policy that remained in effect despite Biden's desire to end it up until he could declare the pandemic over. And a policy that created a humanitarian crisis just over our border. That much trouble building up on our doorstep was one way or another going to spill over into the US. If you care about migrants as human beings, ending Title 42 was the right move.

Dumb. But either way, it’s still a problem that was created by Biden-Harris’ negligence at the border. It is also well-documented that Joe Biden made it a point to undo Trump border policy on Day 1 of his administration. Trump didn’t create the problem. Nor does he share any burden for it as a private citizen. A POTUS can invade a country by executive order. A POTUS can secure our border by executive order. Trump proved that. Trump didn’t create the problem, nor did he get in the way of fixing it. A POTUS does not need congressional approval to secure our homeland.

My memory is just fine. You missed the point. My dislike of congressional bills being loaded with unrelated items doesn’t change based on which party is promoting the bill. I don’t care who certain speakers of the house are.

The last border bill paid the NGO's that organize and pipeline caravans of illegals into the US. It did little to deter llegals from crossing the border until a large number of them entered the . US. Then it paid for every illegal to have a lawyer at taxpayer expense. No wonder Rand Paul said the :border security bill was worse than no bill at all.

Did you see the chart posted above? Please point out any time frame when there wasn't a problem! And please address how you can say Trump "fixed" things when his third year in office saw more crossings than his years one and two.

It is just absolutely insane how Dems have even been allowed to suggest that somehow a private citizen prevented the most powerful person in the world (U.S. CIC and POTUS) from securing our national border. Joe Biden could literally put our entire military at our southern border if he wanted to. No, I am not suggesting he should do that, but in theory Biden could and there would be nothing Trump or the GOP Congress would be able to do about it. Just accept that Biden-Harris created a human catastrophe by opening the border to millions of unknown migrants who were gaming our asylum statutes and he could have stopped it long before he ever sent a bill to Congress (that just happened to be tied to totally unrelated expenditures). Stop being stupid.

Still avoiding the question why there were more crossings in 2019 versus 17 and 18? Is it because if you answer it, you admit Trump solved nothing on the border?

You haven’t shown that those orders resulted in reducing immigration to begin with. The numbers under Trump grew each year excepting the Covid year. This year we’re on pace to have lower numbers than in 2019.

I never addressed your second point on Trump’s impact on the border bill last year, but since you’re repeatedly bringing it up I’ll tell you why your position is untenable. I would ordinarily agree that a private citizen wouldn’t share any responsibility. That simply isn’t the case with Trump.

First, Trump is not a private citizen. He's a former President that is paid an allowance, provided with an office and office staff, and has a SS detail. Second, he controls the Republican Party which controls half of Congress and directly controls the budget. Utilizing that control he had Speaker Mike Johnson and other House Republicans scuttle the border bill. The entire point of Trump taking this action was to create an election issue for him to run on and you’re clearly fully on board with that strategy. It wasn’t for the betterment of country but a cynical power play.

The bottom line is it's the POTUS' job to secure our borders. He doesn't need anyone's approval to do that. With it being the human catastrophe that it was and still is, the idea that he would attempt to blame others for his inaction is pretty sick.

Please explain how Congress affected the flow of crossings?

I don't think you know government works. You seem to be an expert at scapegoating, however.

    Just pathetic.

I may be, but no where near as pathetic as democrat politicians who paved the way for increased crossings by rolling out the welcome mat, and then democrats like yourself who try to deny that they did so for five years.

So you get called out on a specific scapegoating claim that exposes your ignorance and your response is even more vague scapegoating? It that the only response your conditioning allowed or did you have options?

Just so that you are not left in your current state of confusion, immigration enforcement is primarily the responsibility of the executive branch, which is led by the President. While Congress creates immigration laws, it's the President and their administration who enforce them. Laws passed by Congress must be signed by the President to take effect, unless Congress overrides a veto. Did the 116 Congress override an immigration enforcement veto?

The only way to control illegal immigration is to punish those who hire them. How many of the virulent anti immigrant morons hire one to clean their house or mow their lawns or take care of their kids.

I am reminded of the Great Wall of China. How many invaders did that stop? 0 the mongols bribed the guards who opened the gates.
