That is a great question. I would think that it does but, I haven’t seen the contract.

No, it shrinks by year not by day.

So then, if we keep him for the year we save what $6 mil? I am all for it!

Also, I believe that DJ Lagway is our biggest chip to play to get Kiffin. It would be a travesty to let him enter the portal mid-season without seeing what may come next. Jaxson Dart is a senior so Lane needs to reload at QB

You may be right. I just wonder if Billy completely loses the locker room after UCF and all the players know he’s gone anyway, don’t you need to let the fan base know that the administration does not think this is okay and are taking actions to right the ship. There are no easy answers but normally once a decision has been made at this level in business, you don’t let the person stick around for any significant period.

AD just trying to save his job IMO. Probably trying to convince the powers that be to give Billy Taggart more time. He know if he fires BN it’s his failure and he’s likely gone as well. Definitely a lack of leadership

The person firing the head coach is the AD who will also be firing himself. It is a $26 mil decision. If the players quit, they are putting themselves on tape doing just that. Also, there is no one on this staff to take over. We also want to avoid opening the portal mid season at all costs IMO.

We have ourselves the perfect storm going on. We need a new Pres and AD. Firing Billy at this point is like cutting off your finger because you have a hangnail.

There are choices for interim. Doesn’t have to be good choices. Enosmand Roberts were head coaches in lower levels. But there is no need to limit who can be interim. When Auburn fired Harsin they made Cadillac Williams (former auburn RB and RB coach). He had never been a head coach.

they didn’t do this to win games per se, they purposely chose someone who was an Auburn tiger through and through. Someone who cared about and had ties to the university. Why? One was to attempt to motivate the team to some Winslow but mainly Because he could keep selling the program to recruits and the current players. His message was “hey, this is a great place to be. I may not know who the coach will be or who will remain on staff but I know they will hire a great coach who can turn this talented team around. And this is the university you want to be at. I love this place.”

that is something that can help if the head coach is fired with the right interim.

Different time, different rules. How did that work out for Auburn?

Did Auburn have an interim Pres and an AD on his last legs? No.

This is a different situation entirely.

I respect Saban, and I think he's a good addition to Gameday. But color me shocked to hear an ex-coach coming out and saying "don't blame the coach". Sorry Nick, you're not objective here. It's like when they're reviewing a call during a game and bring in the retired ref to comment on it, he always sides with the refs to the point viewers don't take it seriously.

The facilities point is a reasonable excuse for Mac and Mullen but doesn't apply to Napier. We have a collective, it's probably not on par with UGA and the Ohio State, but its enough to be better than 5-7. Win a little bit and pocketbooks will open up even more. Also, it doesn't help when the school is spending millions on worthless extraneous staff and boosters have to buy out the failed coach(es) that Saban doesn't want to blame.

Fans showed up in the opener full throated (until the game started and it was obvious we were outclassed). The support is there, the team needs to reward that support. Napier has received tremendous support and resources and failed to deliver, other coaches win more with less.

The facilities didn't bother the 2020 team.
Mullen should have been out recruiting the strength of that team - QB / TE / WRs - offense in general.

He should have been recruiting defensive players to step in and help immediately. Instead, he worked all of January and February on getting an NFL head coaching job.

I’m really concerned about the Fuchs situation. It makes sense that Stricklin has to go. Who’s going to fire Stricklin? I’m really worried about this. I’m afraid we may be stuck with Napier for another year.

The players have quit before. They quit when Stricklin pulled the rug out from under McElwain. Its not like it hasn't happened before at UF, and that was before there was a portal that they could just up and transfer on to the next bidder.

Exactly, the players have to play for their next NIL deal. If they quit, the world will know. They can't just quit like they did on McElwain or Mullen anymore. They can fake injuries though.

I don't know if it's so much about the players quitting, rather lacking direction. Of course, we already have that now anyway. LOL

Saban was blaming those hiring and firing coaches, which isn't exactly a bad point. Those writing the checks have been making bad hires. I cannot help but think it's both/and. We have mostly not gone after home run hires.

I don't think he lasts that long. UCF will royally embarrass us, and it's only getting worse. I won't predict when it happens, but I expect at least by the end of the season.

It could definitely work if we bought him top five classes every year. He has not proven himself to be a shitty coach.

He is straight up, pointing the finger at stuff above the coaching level. He said they can’t all suck which probably do but that’s not our problem. We have problems above.
