There is no guarantee of a winner this year. And we have even less of an idea who might be available next year, nor what position we will be in. The only reason to keep BN is a fear of who we hire, but that fear exists next year as well. BN is asymmetrical - almost anybody we hire will do better b/c no coach in modern Gator history has done worse. Even if we only got a coach who stabilized us for 3 years, that is better than another year of Napier (utter failure with no recruiting) with uncertainty after that. Lots of folks on here saying “we can’t get Kiffin” (or whomever). They are FOS - nobody knows if we can or whom we can get this year. What we know is that keeping the status quo is not viable.
I’m addressing BN’s ability to recruit now through the end of this year as a dead man walking. You are correct that “no” is too strong, but severely hamstrung is accurate.
My biggest fear is that 5 to 6 wins saves his job. Now 2-2, we have only 3 "winnable" games left UCF, UK, and F$U
Don’t let the fools gold get you like Samford. Miss St is the worst team in the SEC That said I was of the belief that Napier probably needed to be canned this Sunday. I think you give him to the next bye week and see what happens. I will also say I have no confidence he does well for that stretch.
Just when they think they know what BN is going to call he will draw all 11 defenders right up to the line of scrimmage with both receivers uncovered he will check the call down for a run up the middle for minus one yard.
Bingo. $400M stadium renovations for a losing team? How about putting that money into a top coach and nil? Winning cures all.
Found this interesting, Mack Brown after losing today “Embarrassing day, shocking day,” North Carolina coach Mack Brown said. “You shouldn’t be at North Carolina and lose to a Group of Five team, period. There are no excuses. Our defense looked awful. We had communication problems, we had missed tackles. We had guys wide open for a touchdown. “It can only come back to one person and that’s me. I’ve hired everybody on this staff and signed every player on this team. I am at fault 100%. I got big shoulders, and I’m embarrassed for our whole program that we would put a product like that on the field.”
