I understand that. But if he's going to be fired, why wait? He will not change... and many of our recruits looking at other schools right now. That's not good. By the FSU game, several other schools will have or will be firing their coaches. Which means we will NOT have an unfettered monopoly on the best coaches out there like we have right now.

But, that's just my opinion and voicing it changes nothing... :(

If that does happen, then with what Josh Heupel is doing at Tennessee right now and if Kiffin were to go to Florida. The Tennessee-Florida game would be like it was back in the 90s, one of the best rivalries in the SEC.

Just because we fire our coach 1st does not guarantee anything when it comes to who we can hire. It is not like any coach is going to proclaim that they are going to UF mid season. All it does is open up the portal prematurely which would let our rivals poach our players in plain sight. I am sure that communication is happening already through back channels. They probably already know whether or not lane has interest.

We probably will NOT be talking directly to any coach mid-season, it's their agents we're talking to. But the price for the top coach will go up with more demand...true, but getting a conference call or meeting in person, with the best coach's agent, early is never a bad thing.

Since when has being the first to contact a coach not a good thing. But I do know there are NO guarantees, no one is proclaiming that... certainly NOT me.

Also, these opinion boards are for we the fans to commiserate about our football team/season/coaching and not to be considered a blueprint for how to move forward. These boards are not for the UAA/AD or other higher-ups to be listening in on us. Lol.... Nor should it be advice for them to use in negociations.;)

You realize that we can do that without firing our coach 1st right?

It's being done, I'm sure... but that silence will not save players that we need to keep on our team, and in the ones in our recruiting class. The fans and the players deserve to know that we will not take this kind of substandard coaching.

I have been on Napier's side the whole time since he's been here, and I still like the man as a person of good character and class. But I can no longer defend his coaching and the product he puts out on the field.

I didn't vote but if we lose to a mediocre Mississippi State team blowing a 28-14 lead this could be Bill Napier's last game.

If we fire Billy the portal opens 30 days later and our players will just opt in mid season. Is that what you want?

No matter what, the deck is stacked against your team when a coaching change is contemplated. ESD in early December. All good/great coaching candidates likely will be involved with playoffs that start December 20 and extend till January. Portal automatically opens 30 days after you fire a coach. Geez!!! You guess wrong on a coaching hire and it will take a big chunk out of your arse.

Who the hell drafts these contracts and how could this have become the norm. How can anyone justify those amounts to fire any coach? With the insane amounts they’re getting paid, schools should be allowed to claw that money back if anything. We’re taking about universities here, and in our case a public one in part paid by tax dollars. WTF kind of system is this where $26mm doesn’t even crack the top 10. It’s appalling. Guys working their asses off can barely afford to buy groceries for their families and these asshats who suck so bad at their jobs that schools are paying them tens of millions to leave? Talk about a broken society with skewed priorities

According to Nick Saban on game day, Florida's problems run deeper and higher up the chain that just the head coaches.

Players know what’s going on…the ones that will leave are going to anyway. This is probably not a big consideration. I don’t think you can afford to keep Billy after the likely UCF loss.

And remember - we're in the "easy" part of our schedule. Games against Tennessee, Texas, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss will get ugly and embarrassing. I'll watch, but it's like people slowing down to gawk when there's a bad car wreck.

Yep, AD needs to go. Now. But, that won't happen yet because we don't have a president. And, Fuchs was always just a placeholder.

Napier will be officially released the day he locks a losing season with his 7th loss. Probably Ole Miss week, maybe even LSU week. Talks with boosters and potential replacements will happen now, though.

Why can we not afford to keep Billy after he loses to UCF? Who on this staff do you make interim coach? Do any of them have any head coaching experience? Who cares if we win 3 games with Billy or with an interim coach? He is gone next year anyway. I think that we are letting emotions get in the way of a business decision here. If we fire Billy now, we get to pay part of his buyout now, the portal opens up in 30 days, and it is not like we will win anything anyway.

This organization has much bigger problems than Billy. We have no permanent President, we have an AD that has no business hiring another coach, and we have a dumpster fire of a football program. Stricklin needs to go ASAP! That is the change that needs to be made in the short term. Let the new AD deal with Billy. Then go get Lane if he will come here. With the current admin structure in place, I doubt he would. We need a new AD, not one on shaky ground, running the show if we want to have a chance.

Does his buyout shrink as the season goes on?
