I figured he’d be gone after Miss St. game, until I heard this yesterday. Now It’ll be after UCF, IMO. May depend on how ugly a loss to Miss St is. I’ve heard this may be why Wilson is not playing. Heard he can burn his redshirt, as long as he does’t play 5 games. I’m not 100 on this, tho.
If the trigger is pulled too soon there will be a line 20+ players ready to hang it up this season. There is no advantage to move this soon on this.
And if he cares to talk, he may have insight like sos does. The great coaches recognize who can oc and dc. Running the whole this is an entirely diy animal.
Not sure what the right time would be. If a really "great" hire could be made, perhaps. But, are the players on board with Napier- support, like, revere him? I would think they want a changes asap, but who knows. Given the results, I would be surprised if the players thought they were being developed to their potential. Were I not one of Mertz, Montrell, Webb, or our punter, I would feel cheated.
The thing is....there isn't going to be a new coach or different development this season. Firing Napier only means he is gone and the remaining staff soldiers on. Not much gained unless the players have a particular dislike of Napier, which seems unlikely. The best route imo is keep Napier around as long as you can.....preferably well into Oct. You can still be vetting candidates and putting out feelers.
They love him but also might want change. There is no sugar coating line play. Really hoped the team would redeem themselves last Saturday but the lines are pushed back and the secondary was a sieve. Can MSU push us around like that? Certainly hope not. If only the Oline could simply hold ground I could see Trell having a big day.
Exactly. I can imagine our players are disappointed with the results and their prospects going forward but still like Napier and wish it were different.
Oh Man would we have some fun...Full Disclosure, i may not make it through the entire season. Something about Moral ethics and coeds. Really kind of a gray area if you ask me....
Yep, and he has a nice Chris Craft sitting at his dock. The CEO of the company is a client of mine. He personally delivered it Saban.
I still think the transitional interim coach like Meyer would have kept this team together and now, especially after the fourth game, you will see many players stay injured or just red-shirt the year away... So the team players that we have playing after the UCF game are the ones that may as well continue playing because they cannot red-shirt. Meyer could have just kept this class together for the next coach that will not be here till after the playoffs... if it's Kiffin, because his current team will make the payoffs. Now the administration is in deadman's land as far as options. The current coaches on the team are NOT going to change anyone's mind to play or to stay, nor will any of those coaches keep this class together till after the first transfer Portal ends in early January, if they fire Napier during the season. That point of no return has passed. And guess what's coming up? The hardest part of our schedule. If we were going to make a move, it should have been after the A&M game, and we should have hired Meyer as the transitional interim coach just to keep this team and recruiting class together.
