How's that pair for old school hard cases! Lol

 

The only person that I think may appeal less to 17 year old kids than Gruden may be Belichick haha. Gruden has a lot of love for the game but his last 5 years in the NFL he was 31-38 and was widely criticized for being way too conservative and way too predictable with almost no play action and a lot of running. Belichick's last year in the NFL he, as the GOAT coach, completely lost his locker room.

 

He’s certainly on the right team to get punt reps and show the scouts what he can do!

 

Well I hear ya but given whom has been hired since Urban, and if Lane, Lincoln and Jeff say no, I would take him over another unknown commodity.

I enjoy Matthews in the morning, frankly, one thing I agree with "JC" about, is hiring a "Gator". Many scoff at this, but I think UF should offer Kerwin Bell.

While granted I don't know squat about football, I do think Shane Matthews does, given his Gator career and 14 years in the NFL. He believes Kerwin "has what it takes" although he understands many in Gator Nation do not respect his resume from coaching at smaller schools. All he does is win and win championships at every stop.

No, not at his current stop, but he just started. Sure , the boosters can park a brinks truck in front of one of the above mentioned "hot" names, but there is no guarantee with them either. SOS was not a popular choice with many when he came.

I'm just a Gator fan among hundreds of thousands or millions, but there is
a Gator legend out there, a legacy, a guy that went as a 7th string walk on nobody from Mayo to Gator hero.

He has turned around every program he walks into. In other words the man has been proving EVERYONE wrong his entire life.
IMO it is CRIMINAL for Gator Nation to disrespect him so.

Given that UF may be at the lowest point since the end of the Doug Dickie era why the hell not? Can't sink much lower than we are now.

 

Name Kerwin as the interim coach. He might take it.

 

Why would he leave a HC job just to be an interim?

 

For the chance to prove himself and become the hbc.

 

He may have just as good a chance as anybody else. The problem is now they’ve taken too many chances and they need the surefire choice as much as possible. They need the splash hire to get things stirred up at Florida.

 

He would have to be named head coach for next year

 

I just don’t see the obsession. Not that impressed. Hard pass.

 

He would be down my list but he would definitely be on it. Make the other guys say no and do not offer them six or $7 million when you know what the answer is gonna be. They have to back up the Brinks truck if they want to bring any a premier coach.

 

The challenge... and money?

 

This... we wasted our chance to hire him because we hired dumb non-Gator people to run our athletic department for far too long.

 

For whatever reason, he has never been given a chance to run a big program.

 

Many people here have been talking about him and his coaching prowess for a long time, and yet somehow he never got considered... If we luck out and land Kiffin, I would like to see Kffin offer Kerwin a job as an OC for him. Some Ole Miss faithful on the hater site TheRant have said some unflattering things about Lane's current OC. So that might even be the break we all need.

 

There just has to be a reason that he has not gotten a better job. We just don’t get to hear everything.
