Chris made a bad mistake but I hope he can get another chance to get into the football world. He is obviously up to date with his feel for NIL and the current game. So intelligent and knowledgeable. Hope somebody gives him a chance

I simply can’t imagine the numbers he would have put up if Spurrier came back in 05 with all of the offensive talent there.

Yeah it was very disappointing how he fell off, I feel bad for him but he made his mistakes.

Would probably be a debated topic, but why do we not look to bring people like this back into the program? He has the "blemish" but outside of that, he is a football mind and a Gator legend. I feel like guys like this should be on the analyst staff and trying to work their way into coaching positions.

I don’t think any educational institution would hire him.

Only in the court of public opinion is someone guilty until proven innocent. The charge that was filed was quickly withdrawn, so as far as I am concerned, Chris is innocent. As for this excellent interview, it is clear how knowledgeable and perceptive Chris is, and his points are damning to Billy, even though Chris didn't say a disparaging word. He really should be back in coaching...

NFL n NBA players galore have been convicted of worse than what Chris did, and yet they can be heard on national broadcasts every week. Our tax dollars pay legal fee “payoffs” for senators and congressmen to have sex scandals erased. (This is indisputable).
I am a hardline law and order guy. I have three daughters- yet I think when someone has paid the price required by the law and then rehabilitate their life and they’re deserve another chance. I know some disagree with this, but that’s how I feel. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, and Chris wasn't convicted of anything. I know the story was a bit messy, but he wasn't charged with a crime, was he?

He played under Zook and Meyer, so he had two different coaching experiences to learn from.

I'd love to bring guys like him back in the fold, and kudos to Ali for giving him an audience.

The issue is didn’t Chris surrender his teaching certificate and agreed to never teach again? The admin complaints are a different animal than the criminal complaints as is being a commentator vs a coach.

That is an interesting question. Do all coaches require a teaching certificate at a public university?

Exactly what kind of teaching would you attribute to our current coaching staff?

You're not a law and order guy if you have 3 daughters and have a "Get over it " attitude about underage sex with a minor. I loved what he did at UF, bbut what he's accused of is a crime. Ceding your teaching credentials doesn't happen cuz you just felt like it. He wouldn't have done it on a whim.

So you know this from inside knowledge? I thought it was a mutually agreed decision to give up the credentials by the prosecution and the underage persons family and Leak. I never read that he had sex with her. If you really know otherwise I would certainly reconsider my thought process. But, are you filling in blanks that you really don't know the answer to? I am not saying you're wrong but what you are claiming is all new to me and I think most of us on this board. It was years ago and I did not look up the details of the case I will concede. I think generally men acused of underage sex are brought to trial . If found guilty they definitely go to jail.

I suppose it may vary by state, but from what I have found, no teaching certificates are required. Not in Florida anyway.

You are required to be certified as a teacher, which includes passing a subject matter test and a background check. Don't know of any state that doesn't require at least that. But, things may have changed since I retired. I taught in Florida and it was required.
Wrong. Florida does require certification in a subject area and pass a background check. Don't know if you're just misinformed or what.
