My only concern is his distance from the current college coaching envitonment.

I care almost nothing for his words. Given his accomplishments he clearly has been able to work productively with all sorts of people. And it is not like his own players, or players in general do not talk like that, even today.

If he is serious maybe he could start back as an OC somewhere.

But not here, at least not now. Our circus rings are crowded enough already.

What's Brian Schottenheimer like? He's had some good jobs but never for long.

For real! I’ve been saying that for years and I know I’ve said that on this board before… “Stop gaslighting us and telling us that the stated goal is to win championships and compete for championships and then not doing the things that everyone knows wins championships “… If you value a tennis championship just as much as you do a football championshipthat’s fine… That’s not how I would do things and it’s not how I think things should be done, but I don’t work there… Don’t tell us one thing and do something else… I get enough of that from politics

This Gruden talk is silly. Why don't we just get Belichick, or maybe Parcells or Ditka

If Gruden does end up coaching at the collegiate level, it'll be something like Herm Edwards at ASU. Yeah, Gruden might be a really smart coach, but so was Mullen. There's no way any big time program even gives him an interview.

Herm was not a good NFL head coach, while Gruden was solid and has a super bowl ring.

    The first choice is Lane.

Gruden could be interesting. I would have him over some other names listed, but if it is a rebound position for him, no thanks.

Some coaches are cut out for college, while some are much better suited for the pros. Gruden is clearly in the latter camp.

There are VERY few coaches that are capable of being successful at both once they reach a certain age.

100% agreed about Lane, though. He should be the primary target.

the college game is becoming more like the pro game then ever, only thing missing is the salary cap.
no way UF can take a chance on gruden given the recent misses -- didn't realize he has 5 former assistants who are head coaches in the league now.

While my first choice is Kiffen, the coach flying under the radar is Ryan Day. He is presently maligned by the Ohio State fan base and has an extremely small buyout. If the Buckeyes fail to win a natty this year with their $20 million roster, his seat will be nuclear hot. Bring Pantaloni (sp), a large portion of his staff and I think we right the ship quickly.

I think we just have to accept this class is toast. Even if we land kiffin, it likely won’t be until after esd and the class will have fallen apart by then. There’s no easy solution but it’s not billy.

That would be a good hire that we could probably all live with.

My question would be if he fails to win the B1G this season, do you want the guy that couldnt win a weak B1G with a $20M roster?

I'm not that concerned about if they lose in the playoffs. Every game will be hard. But tOSU should win the B1G this season.
