So...Doering, Mathews and Spurrier are to blame for disappointed fans?

    Sorry...no.

You sure do like to read your own narrative into what other people post, don't you. No one is blaming anyone other than Napier for the debacle on the field. He's the one that said this was his best and deepest team, and it led us to undeserved optimism. It's just curious that the three mentioned in your post thought this would be a good team. All I wondered is what they saw to make them think that.

Doering perhaps. He speaks as if he knows. I think Spurrier had to be on board and he's a Gator, always optimistic. But his pre Spring(?) comments tell us he knew some things were just not right.

True, but being honest and politically incorrect does not mean you lack tact. Blurting out everything you think is not what Spurrier is about either, especially when his words can hurt UF. We praise the man for his uniqueness - you can’t define his character in standard buckets. He is truly a one-off

Last thing you want is the prospective new hire seeing the old legend publicly pushing the administration to fire the coach.

Spurrier said multiple times on inside the huddle that he is the ambassador and couldn’t be too negative.

All those questions about Napier he deferred to Shane, saying he is the voice of the gators.

shane hasn’t hold back on Napier this season and I think he has lost hope on him. Shane is all in for the lane train.

    Fire? No.

Ice him out? Hell yes they would.

"They" being as much a part of the problem as Napier. Napier is merely a symptom of them.

You're probably right, now, and that's because he might be getting the message that his butt is on the line. You might also ask if he's surprised the team is as bad as the games we've played. If he was, then he was not inspecting what was expected. That's fine with Volleyball but never with football given two previous losing seasons and our HC's inability to evaluate team progress.

Didn’t someone say they rarely have live tackling in practice?

He was just trying to be very diplomatic and optimistic, as he is.

He mentioned in podcasts during that time that he was out there being encouraging but he couldn't cross the line to coach, as they couldn't take that from him. That indicated to me that he felt there were things needing to be pointed out that weren't being pointed out, so what he says now doesn't surprise me or think that he is changing his story.

The practice they see is like 7 minutes of stretching, every practice, and maybe some throws on air or basic drills. They have no idea what is going on in practices unless player are feeding them correct information, which is unlikely to happen.

Napier has to be aware of the displeasure with him in Gator Nation right now. He also is disheartened himself and may be in a desperate mode right now to right the ship. If so, he really doesn’t need extra voices on the sideline at practice. No reflection on Steven but too many cooks spoil the broth. And before anyone jumps on that line let me say Napier himself hired WAY too many cooks. Could be a huge part of the problem.
As much as I’m inclined to give up on CBN, we should give him space right now and not make the job any harder than it already is.
Talking, speculating and complaining is in order: I’ve been doing plenty of that too. But, IMO, interacting with players at practice is counterproductive.

I thought it was tweeted that this year yes, last year no and a video showing our secondary practicing. Remember our secondary coach being tackled by his unit in practice, some posters even worried about his well being? Maybe the short clip I saw was the one day they worked on it.
