Your anecdotal experience means very little, because the FBI in the case you're speaking of probably didn't have a distinct conflict of interest. And I didn't say DeSantis' statement changed anything. Although, it's clear the state isn't going to leave a stone unturned here. So I would anticipate whatever resources the state has, they're going to deploy on this one. As I said, this isn't your routine attempted murder investigation and I think it's pretty silly to compare it to a random case that very likely had very little public eye.

Another political stunt by Meatball Ron. There are two obvious conclusions: First, that the Secret Service did an admirable job by identifying the shooter before he was able to get off a shot and secondly it's extremely difficult to provide a really high level of security for a golf course bordering on multiple public roads complicated even more so when there is ample vegetation along the perimeter of the golf course making concealment even easier (see photo below).

    Wait, what?!

You right-wing perpetual victims are now moaning about how nobody is trying to protect Donald the Felon when......he takes an unscheduled golf outing, and an unhinged Republican waits in hiding for twelve hours......for the opportunity to NOT fire a shot at him, but to point an out-of-range gun in his vaguely general direction?

Very poor effort at claiming to be a victim here.

    Victimhood score of 1.5/10.

    Do better.

Not lost on me that you fit the exact profile of the assailant in this case. Late 50's, white, trolling the internet to express your hate towards one individual.

Here's my bold prediction, we don't hear anything about this investigation ever again. All stones will remain in place, fully unturned. Like, they were too lazy even to form a "blue ribbon" committee. But it seems like its worked gangbusters on the board's hackiest posters!

this "investigation" ended when the cameras were turned off.

    reminds me of this

Warren Beatty : [after Madonna declines to talk to her doctor off-camera] She doesn't want to live off-camera, much less talk. There's nothing to say off-camera. Why would you say something if it's off-camera?

The only conflict of interest involving the FBI is in your mind because the agency was involved in the investigation of Trump's own crimes regarding the concealment of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago because it revealed Russian interference in the 2016 campaign which runs counter to the Trump narrative that Russian interference was a hoax. As far as Crooks is concerned his profile is very similar to that of John Hinkley and he was almost certainly motivated by a desire for attention rather than politics. Keep in mind that he was also tracking Biden's movements and that he researched the security of the site of Democratic National Convention neither of which seem to be the acts of a potential assassin motivated primarily or solely of hatred for Trump based on the former president's politics.

You are pointing fingers at the left because a conservative poster thinks a Republican should receive a fair trial?

Not just that, but playing golf at that course was not on Trump's schedule that day. Somewhat hard to advance clear an area (assuming sufficient staffing) when the first the SS heard about it was that morning as they were about to leave for the course.

Query for the conspiracy theorists-how'd Routh know Trump was playing THAT course on THAT day at THAT time if it wasn't on his official schedule?

Is it surprising that the state would do its own investigation? Seems like we heard from state officials in Pennsylvania after that attempt, but they were obviously involved in the situation, and I don't know if they did their own separate, formal investigation. Were state and/or local police assisting here in Florida with protecting Trump last week? If not, was it because it wasn't a scheduled event?

If this is true, you understand this only pours kerosine on the conspiracy theories, don't you?

Its not surprising, but in most cases, the state government isnt hamfistedly politicizing it

DeSantis wants to get him in his own jails and Epstein him. Much harder to do in federal custody NOT ran by Bill Barr.

[agree, but it was 5 1/2 weeks between the attempts. QUOTE="okeechobee, post: 16870759, member: 32897"]Politicians grandstand. It's in the job description. However, this warrants the grandstanding and public discourse. At the very least, the Federal agencies have shown themselves inept and inadequate. From the Secret Service to the FBI. It's been almost 3 months since Crooks did his thing and do we know anything about a motive? Guarantee you Moody produces a motive and if she does it before the Feds do, even better. I have a feeling this decision will be talked about for decades. This isn't just a casual Fed/state overlap of an attempted murder case. DeSantis wants to put his signature on this one for a reason. Even if it's only for the sake of grandstanding, GOOD FOR HIM. IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO HAVE A PRESIDENT SHOT AT TWICE IN 10 WEEKS!! The only reason Routh didn't get off any shots himself was because the SS actually took action this time. DeSantis investigating this is good, because the security of Donald Trump has been severely compromised. We NEED to know why. That helps both Republicans and Democrats.[/QUOTE]

That’s the interesting question, for all sides of the conspiracy claims (Is someone in Trump’s inner-circle try to get him killed? Was the whole thing a ploy by Trump’s team to change the downward campaign projectory? Or, was the Secret Service trying to scheme this? Or, did Trump stiff the beer girl and she called it in?).

All plausible and in context. Remember, not ounce has a beer girl called in a hit on Kamala. Not once.

I ask you, why not? And is that fair to Trump?!

How long does it take them to clear a perimeter around a golf course they're already very familiar with? I mean, aside from Mar-a-lago, Trump International is probably the most routinely secured areas for the former president. And I seriously doubt Trump was running out the front door like Sonny Corleone to go play golf. I'm guessing they had sufficient time to clear the area and........ if they didn't, it is on the Secret Service to say "Hey Sir, we don't have enough time to properly clear this area and you are already an extra high risk subject. We don't want to chance it."
