    After the 2019 season.

In a parallel universe it happened and we are dancing the last 4 years.

You’re correct Wind. I never intended to imply that Napier set us back a decade. My point was that our string of failed coaching choices has set us back more than a decade, and another bad hire sets us up for more. We don’t need a knee-jerk “hell anybody is better than this guy” hire. Do that and yes we’re setting ourselves up for more of the same - another decade lost

I would have. At least with Muschamp you know you will be getting a well coached defense with a killer instinct attitude. Plus the man was an ace recruiter on that side of the ball.

I think tomorrow (Monday) will be an interesting day around here. Everyone will be back at work on campus. I just going on my own guess here. I think CBN will be fired. The big question is whether Stricklin will follow him out the door.

Hire a head Coach that is a leader and a great Motivator, and require him to hire a proven OC and DC.
We would not be going thru all this is Billy would have hired a top OC and DC from the start instead of loading up with annalists.

Problem is, you can grab a failed HC who would be a great DC (Muschamp) and another failed HC who would be a great OC (Mullen), and still fail miserably not only at getting them to work together, but also at getting them to work under another head coach. Lots of egos there, especially with guys who are former head coaches

Oh yeah that’s why I said I’ve joked about.

It would be a tough thing to balance out.

Champ has seemed to do pretty well in a lesser role however.

I am not sure what we gain by actually firing the HC three games into the season even if it is a forgone conclusion.

You're either stuck with an inactive coach to hire midseason or waiting months until the end of the season. Honest question since I have no idea, but is there someone on staff people think can improve the product on the field in the interim?

Even the writing is on the wall, when do they announce it and start the search? Unless of course Napier negotiates an early out, not likely though.

It was Randy Shannon that was there scouting LBs…

“Former Gators assistant Randy Shannon stopped by Manvel that spring to look at a linebacker on Florida's radar. When Shannon returned to the office, he told Nussmeier that Martin wanted to talk to him about a quarterback. Nussmeier and Martin knew each other because Nussmeier, as an Alabama assistant, had recruited Martin's son, Manvel offensive lineman Koda Martin.”

At least with Mullen, we had some nice victories and entertaining seasons. We were essentially in the hunt during his time here, except for the last season when he got fired.

I think he just lacked the motivation. He had been at UF many years, and won 2 National Championships and a few bowl games. He dug us out of the rut we were in before 2018, and he figured his job was done and thought he could cruise.
