I try my best to support our guys until they’re not our guys anymore. I don’t get to make the decisions on whether or not they’re our guys to begin with. I also think that the absurd amount of social media negativity can ONLY hurt. Nothing positive comes from it. Some folks think they’re just being objective and everyone else just needs to see what they see. The guys who actually make the moves watch the same games we do. They don’t need us to micromanage every play-call for them.

If they determine Napier misled or didn’t fully disclose his involvement in the Rasheda mess, then that would be ample reason to use that to reduce the buyout amount. Who’s to say how deeply they dug into it before backing Napier. Napier could have said there is nothing there and the AD took it at face value and circled the wagons around him. Then after further investigation/discovery, it turns out Napier was more involved than he let on.

Strickland/Strychnine has really screwed us over in this mess.

 

I comes down to this, you fan how you want to fan, and I'll fan how I want to fan.

 

I think it looks petty to do it at this juncture without something more significant than “oh we didn’t look into this enough before we decided to back you”. Something bigger than that would need to surface. If you’re going to do it, you do it immediately, just like they did with the death threats.

 

So we settle for $20 M and move on?

On3 Florida is reporting the Florida board of Trustees is meeting today. Seems to be an odd day to have scheduled meeting. Maybe you folks around Gainesville could provide more information.

Without that pressure, so you think changes will be made? Heck, even with that pressure, Billy has stayed the course even though it is obvious it isn’t working. Do you think this AD would move on from Napier if this pressure wasn’t being put on him? Sitting back and saying nothing allows the status quo to be maintained, which ensures this mediocrity will continue.

What facts do we know? LK has plenty of money. He has made tens of millions. LO has an ego. Ole miss has Never won a nattie and while he has them likely playoff bound, their talent, recruiting base, location,etc will always leave them behind the sec powers. He will make plenty of money wherever he is, and a bigger question is whether he wants to be at a program they can play for national championships regularly but that has higher fan expectations?

 

I think Tebow could be an interesting choice for interim. Great leader and motivator for the players until the new HC is hired. Brings Meyer-era discipline.

In that situation, Billy would have misled/lied about his role in that mess. Lying to your boss is a fireable offense. If the AD took his word at face value and backed him prior to any discovery being done, then the AD needs to be gone as well.

Yes it may look bad, but so does paying $4 million per victory.

 

Fine. And do you now believe BN needs to be fired? He is still our coach so we should support him? Or maybe you think he has now been proven a failure and is harming the program? Maybe others came to that conclusion earlier… and were right.

Point is that between the idiots who called for his firing in year 1 and the fools who still supported him after UM is a vast swath of good faith, rational fans. Call the wing nuts just that but leave room for the common sense middle where a difference of opinion doesn’t mean one has bad motivations.

 

You’re entitled to your opinion. I just wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t come to fruition.

 

Nah. I have no objection whatsoever to new evidence coming to light at a convenient time. And, frankly, whatever they discover about Napier vis-a-vis Rashada is going to utterly shock my conscience, I tell you. I don’t even know what it is, but we as Gators need to root out that kind of corruption expeditiously and set an example of ethical leadership.

The guys who really put the pressure on are the guys who fund these buyouts, and when they’re ready to move, moves get made. I do not really think anyone important cares what the average fan thinks.
