Who is bothering him? I don't think he is being forced to go on the talk shows he does and give his opinions. I never said I thought he would be in charge of hiring the next coach. At the same time I would not be surprised if he gives his opinion to the people that are.

The post you initially quoted from freedomgator was in response to someone saying SOS should be part of the coaching search and have the final say on the hire. If you disagree with that, then I’m not sure why you responded to freedom’s post the way you did.

You're probably right of course, but I think when you have an open lawsuit where you could argue the coach exposed the university to significant liabilities by his actions, one possible path may be distancing yourself from that coach and take the official position that Napier was negotiating outside his authority. It's not like this case is tiny or one of hundreds. Isn't the Jaden Rashada lawsuit sort of one-of-a-kind and a first? And also for a lot of damn money?! Yes, UF has continued to employ Napier into this season, but I'm sure that lawsuit is in some discovery phase and UF learning what really happened on phone calls, texts, etc... Should UF have to ignore this massive NIL lawsuit in their decision to terminate now or in the next few weeks? Why should UF and BOT have to ignore this elephant in this room, this really peculiar lawsuit and an insane amount of money offered a mid-level QB that initially was so insane, none of us believed it, but later we find out it really was real and Napier was familiar with it all. Personally, I think the Rashada thing is still one of if not the most embarrassing things to happen during the Napier era and it's still ongoing and likely to last some time! For whatever reason, it's kind of faded to the back of people's memory even though the lawsuit literally was file just a few months ago, but damn.. I just don't see how you don't call it relevant to an overall decision to terminate. If there were hundreds of these NIL lawsuits, then no. However, we've been hit with one in a very focused / unique way where a recruit that had no business of being offered $13-millioni was offered it and the coach was in on this stupid decision. Fire with cause UF!!!

I don’t disagree, I just think as we get the chance for a clean slate we could all act with more courtesy to each other. Not just attack the opposing view as pessimistic or Disney or whatever term you would like to use. We’ve become too tribal and lost the art of conversation. Maybe both sides have decent points of views? I know I’m dreaming but I wanted to lay it out there.

Again, the time to use that bullet was when the lawsuit was filed. The decision was made to back him. You don’t get to come back now and say “oh nevermind, that thing you did a while back, yea you’re fired for that”. Outside of some new damning evidence being presented or a losing judgement, I don’t see how you reverse course on that decision. I don’t think we’ll see either of those two things happening in a timely enough manner.

I'm right there with you. Honestly, the people that crap on things early have the odds on their side - most coaches just don't win championships or are even competitive year in and year out. It is what it is. I think as a good fan, you support the team and the coach until it becomes clear he is no longer the person for the job. That point is different for everyone and some fans never get there.

For me, I was not ready to jettison CBN after the Miami game and stated so. Sadly, after the TAMU game we all know his time as our head coach is over. I like Billy for all the right reasons and wanted him to succeed, but he just isn't capable of it. Gloating from some of the 'I told you so' crowd is to be expected, and that's sad for different reasons.

Nah, I never expect apologies, it's a message board after all.
Maybe just not be so quick to call out posters who have different opinions as being happy about losing or hurting the program when they question coaching. It is a message board after all.
I was never a Napier fan and not happy about being right. These are pretty sad times. Just ready to bring the big broom and move on.

We have a family gathering planned for one of the road games. Not sure anyone wants to go now. It certainly doesn't help that there is also a vacancy at the top of UF.

Of the 4 “fired” coaches since Urbs, Mullen was maybe the only one deserving of an argument to keep him. At least based on record and potential upside, although you could see the defense literally come apart in his last losing season so obviously it wasn’t a radical move to fire him. It was a losing season afterall.

Mac and Muschamp each had lowly 4 win seasons which doomed them (Muschamp did get a second chance).

One glaring difference with this guy, all those previous coaches had at least one 10 win season and SEC champ game “appearance” - they were doomed by 1 really bad season or the feeling the program was heading the wrong way. Forget winning 10 games, this guy will leave without even a single winning season in 3 years, and it’s quite likely the record will have been worse each year. No wonder Gator fans are “united” on this one, it’s easily the most obvious.
