He liked the Zook hire at Florida and recommended Muschamp to succeed him at USCe as well. No one is perfect, although Zook was our third choice.

Probably wishful thinking that it would happen so fast. No doubt I'm sure certain peeps are getting an earful and there are off the record convos going on that we will likely never hear about. Inflection point gets over used, but the UF football program is at one. Continue our descent into being irrelevant and a has been or can we turn out fortunes around? We are all counting on the powers that be to do the right thing.

There's an awful lot of people now adamant about Napier's firing that just a few short weeks ago were angrily dismissing concerns about him or questions about what might result in him losing his job as whining, trolling, and at best harmful to the process of getting better. Maybe there should be a moratorium on "late to the party" or "where have you been" comments before it devolves into endless finger pointing and I told you so's. We're all on the same page for the first time in a long time. Let's try to stay there as long as possible.

Agreed....that's what happens when a coach tells the fans that the process is more important than the results. I wonder if Napier still thinks this is true now.

My point was that these “elite” coaches have done nothing at their new schools. They were hired to win championships. Lane Kiffin hasn’t won anything either. Fisch is a realistic hire IMO. Got it? Good.

Don’t disagree other than your conclusion that kiffin is of the table. If he is not, he is rationally option 1.

Maybe you have inside knowledge but I believe LK is in play.

I think you make him the big offer and make him say no. The only people not in play are really the ones we decide in advance aren't in play. I think this is one of those times where you never know until you ask.

Exactly. Been taking down all the "I told you so!" posts . . . to the dislike of a few . . . but like SewaneeGator said, we're all united and talking about moving forward. We'll have time for an Official Crow Eating thread (same as with Mullen) later. LOL! :)

I have no inside information and I do believe that Lane would be the best option. I just think that his price tag will be too high. I hope I am wrong. He definitely needs to be asked first.

If Sexton is LK's agent, then Lk will be listening imo to boost his pay and compensation at Ole Miss. He is living the life there.

fwiw we are a 6.5 pt favorite at miss st. Not touching that with a ten foot pole. We rarely play well there and have gotten waxed there fielding much better teams than the 2024 Gators.

Him leaving would require a payment from him or his next employer. UF would be in a SIGNIFICANTLY better position than right now.

I got nothing to add here that hasn't already been said. The sooner BN is gone the better off we are. I just keep checking back in hoping, waiting, on the "Billy Napier fired as Gators Head Coach" thread to appear.

Why don't the Board of Trustees and Fuchs use the Jaden Rashada lawsuit to terminate Napier (and possibly Strickland too) with cause? If I was in the position of Fuchs and the BOT, that is what I would do. Goodbye, no paycheck, negotiate with us for something much lower or see ya in court! UF has lots of lawyers on payroll. Would this scare away a new coach? Not if he gets a lot of the money saved! Pay the new guy, not the old one, and maybe in doing so UF can set an example that these universities and boosters aren't going to continue just paying out massive buyouts when the program isn't performing anywhere NEAR where a competent coach would have it. They should play hardball behind the scenes and say "no buyout as of now, you're fired" and make Napier have to try and settle something to keep it out of the courts where UF could drag Napier's reputation worse than what he's already done to himself. OR take $10-million and go away and we can all be friends.

    Relax.
Fisch may turn out great, maybe not, just has a pretty thin resume compared to a few others. He certainly hasn't won any championships, not even conference championships, with 1 winning season.

You like him, that's fine. Clear upgrade from Napier but another huge gamble in my book.
