Booby was hot about that. I think that it might have been the only time that a FSU prez over-ruled a Booby decision until the one the "retired" him and that actually may have been a board of trustees decision.

 

Keith Friedman, give me a break, what does that asshat know? That's like mentioning during a hurricane, it appears certain there will be rain today. Captain obvious. No offense to the original poster.

Napiers problem, and there are many, is his power became his enemy. He does not know all. I'm not sure if he was a micromanager, but his managers, his luftenants, his staff/coaches need to be good enough that he can let them run their show with minimal intervention. Any leader/CEO knows, you hire the best and 'they' make you look good. Like Bobo, Georgia's eye in the sky in the box. Can't hire crappy guys and then coach them up. No head coach is that good or has that much managerial bandwidth.

From the onset, Napier always got lost in the weeds when asked questions. Like asking a mechanic why the car you brought him doesn't start after spending $800. "Whelp, you see, the electrical system often times has a short, or the computer is bad. A comprehensive computer diagnostic would..." WTF? Be accountable, you're failing, do you know how to fix it? You either know or you don't. He doesn't.

The two line guys. Our line still sucks. And, I feel bad for the players. Three years? Come on. Three years and we can't get five star linemen? O'cyrus, one super talented guy. Letting Bateman go. Idiocy.

Zero fire. Football is a game of emotion and execution! You can either tackle, catch, throw, kick block or not. But you better play with your pants on fire. A&M played with energy. Miami, played with energy. Samford played with energy. And, yes for God's sake we have some guys that do. But the fish rots at the head...

Man, I can almost feel your pain... I actually have turned off games at home in the past, but If I were there, I would have done what you did. Is it a sickness to expect a better outcome to the games that the Gator will later play in The Swamp this year? If so... then you better get down with the sickness...you good Gator fan...

Agree with everything they said.

Really appreciated Allys point as to why Napier did not put Mertz back in after he was having some success.

Ally pointed out Napier was committed to following through with his plan to rotate them after each series.

She also pointed out he was more "committed" to that pre determined plan, irregardless of what was happening on the field. BINGO, that's crazy, and illustrates one of his most serious shortcomings.

Why does David always sound like he’s congested?

 

I will never forget his quote after Arkansas 2023 loss: "You must remain process-oriented regardless of wins and losses."

That sealed it for me.

He is unwilling to deviate from the initial plan regardless of what is happening around him. That is the true definition of insanity. For Billy however it is simply "the process"- a never ending journey towards no specific destination.

 

I always liked Tyson's quote. "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face." Its always good to have a plan laid out, but you have to be able to adjust as you go.

Yes, this job comes with pressure. What top program in a P4 conf does not? Someone could make a serious name for themselves by coming in here and rejuvenating Gator football. Gotta find the right guy for that.

 

I’m sure most people will disagree with you getting rid of it but I agree. “Won’t back down” sets the tone that you’re already behind and facing adversity. It’s really painful being in the stadium down 3-4 TD’s and that song plays, knowing the score will get worse

I heard the PA at the stadium played Journeys “Separate Ways”

 

I don’t recall if they did that one or not, but during one of the breaks they played Pink Floyd’s “Money” and I cackled since I figured that was buyout-related.

 

When I need a pick me up, my go to is Randy Moss highlight videos. If he had any kind of work ethic, he would have pushed Jerry Rice out and taken his place as the GOAT.

I often think about how the best coaches were often the players who just barely made it. Didn't quite have the physical talent, so they had to understand the game better than the people they competing with just to keep a spot on the bench. The talented stars sometimes develop that part of their game, but far too many of them just out talent the competition and never grow that deep understanding.

 

1994 SEC Championship. Wuerffel limped off, Kresser came in to hand off the ball, and launched a bomb to Hilliard. And Doering also got to throw a completion as well.

 

I remember the game. Although Danny Wuerffel was a better all around quarterback Eric Kresser had an arm like a cannon. Brilliant call by SOS.

 

Because he is, he is a serious allergy sufferer. I like David alot. I eat Claritan the entire month of April, I think he has issues year around.
