Mizzou won today by 6 points over Boston College.

The spread was -16 - Boston College at Missouri (-16)

Does this mean those who picked Mizzou lost, because they only won by 6?

Yes. Mizzou would have to win by 17 to cover. If Mizzou won by 16 it would be an even bet and no action.

In post #37, I suggested that underdogs might fair well. They went 6-4, much to the chagrin of several panelists (people bet pts on Vandy . . . . Vandy!). It was a pretty tough week for most. Unofficial by the numbers:

• The 38 member panel is down to 32.
• Two panelists went bust for not picking two consecutive weeks.
• Faves went 4-6 this week and are 17-13 on the year.
• Nova, who earned 810pts last week, picked up 440 this week.
• 12 of 34 were in the + this week.
• Only 8 of the original 38 (21.1%) are + after three weeks.

 

I know what were they (me too) thinking, Vandy... err... oops.

How well are you doing, gatordavisl? You have to be killing everyone here.

 

I'm doing pretty well, not as good as you and not nearly as good as nova, who picked up 1200 pts over the last two weeks.

 

Nova is killing it, that's for sure.

 

Good question though. We all had to learn it at some time.

 

If the house can add or subtract a half of one point and the betters cannot, then that would prevent a tie. But then that means the house would essentially have to add or take a half point from the odds, and that seems like a ton of extra work. Probably will NOT happen.

 

How many points this leave you with? Both my picks sucked. Lol south Carolina saved your butt.

Another dumb question......

Regarding this game: LSU (-7) at South Carolina

LSU won the game by 3 points (36-33).

If someone picked Carolina......would they win......because the loss was less than the 7 pt spread?

I've learned to not bet real money on the Gators. Now I know not to bet imaginary money on the Gators.

 

I'm using the same strategy of betting 2 games each week at 100 per game. I did this 2 years ago and I think I split games every week for like 12 or 13 weeks. I'm 3 of 3 doing the same this season. It's kind of freaky, really.
