I could live with Kiffin but I would remain uneasy about it. Not just because of his smartassery but combined the other creepy things about him. Entitled cockiness, smirks, Joey Freshwater stuff, had to be reasons for his divorce, bolting from UT, fired by USC at an airport and left off the team bus, and there is likely more that I am not remembering. Yep, uneasy feeling.

Some “liked” BN and some liked Mullen or Muschamp. That is irrelevant and clouds the only questions that matter: can they coach and do they violate social/professional norms. Discussing that Billy tried is silly - they all did. It should buy no time just like Mullen being edgy shouldn’t cost time.

As for Kiffin, there is zero doubt he can coach. On the other issues, he had an affair (or affairs), left UT in the night, and has a lawsuit pending at ole miss. If affairs and lawsuits don’t DQ a US president, I don’t think they should a football coach. lane is obviously volatile but I don’t see his actions as disqualifying. And,no, I don’t think he is as nice as Napier, but that means nothing in my relationship to him- fan of a team he might coach.

 

Gator through and through?? Even though he seems to have matured some lately, I still perceive him as more of a prostitute with a particular talent that allows one to overlook major cosmetic flaws. Yep, still uneasy about him.

IMO, it is pure hopium that Strickland is getting fired.. these are the same tools that hired sasse. A guy who's only previous experience leading a university was in a school in rural Nebraska with 1500 students.

I also want him gone but have little confidence that it is going to be done under our intern president who is already dealing with all of the fallout from sasse.

 

Perhaps he’s learned from his mistakes.

 

Perhaps Lane is not the best recruiter in the world. He is very good in the portal though. I would love to see Lane here but I think that you are looking at Jimbo Fisher money to get him. That is just not happening.

At least one poster on here whose posts I almost always agree with doesn’t believe Lane Kiffin is much different now as a human being than he was years ago. I believe he has evolved into a better person but, I admit it could be because I want him to be a better person.
I would rather gamble on Kiffin’s character right now than another unproven coach. I really, really want Gator football to be fun to watch again.

 

Not endorsing the guy, but like SOS and Meyer, he probably hates losing.

The next cocky smartass is not the next Steve Spurrier pal. Nobody can pull off what he did at UF. He wasn’t an asshole for the sake of being an asshole. His cockiness was a natural development grounded in love of UF and hatred of our rivals, and only credible with on-field success. And the man had integrity and high character. Lane Kiffin couldn’t carry Spurrier’s jockstrap. And you either like douchebags or don’t recognize one when you see it, because most of those years you wanted Kiffy he was a straight up douche canoe.

 

That, right there, more than anything, is why he needs to be gone ASAP.

 

Since being fired from USC(11 years ago) where he had a 28-15 record. He has successfully OC'd for Nick Saban, has head coached FAU to two conference championships and now has Ole Miss competing at it's highest level in school history.
Also people forget he was part of Pete Caroll's staff at USC when they had that great run of Heisman winners and championships.

Yet all people remember is what happened over a decade ago at Oakland and Tennessee and him being a Twitter troll.
