After the game, I switched channels to TCM and watched a James Stewart classic "Bend of the River".....with Arthur Kennedy and a few other notable actors. Great movie!

As much as I hate losing......something about losing that first game made it more tolerable to lose tonight, for some reason.

It still sucks but I'm not going to let it ruin my life.....it is what it is and we as fans have zero control over anything so screw it! :D

I feel kinda like when Zook’s team lost to Mississippi State in 2004. I was on a rent car bus at Chicago O’Hare the following Monday and two guys next to me wearing Mississippi State shirts started razzing me. I said something like “thank you - thanks to your team we’ll finally get this guy fired”.

Sad but true. What’s even sadder is that right now Ron Zook would be a huge upgrade

You're correct. I mixed him up with Kresser. Maybe my old age will make the current era easier to take. I doubt it but Ill tell my grandkids whatever I remember and they'll believe it.
That's the problem with oral histories.

Unfortunate that we couldn’t have gotten a year’s separation between Wuerffel and Kresser. Think we might have won back to back NCs if Kresser could have played in 97. Dude was awesome and won himself a 1-AA NC at Marshall in 96

My memories of my old girlfriends are getting all mushed up too. That can be dangerous.

Yup, not bummed out. No three days of mourning anymore. I kind of expected a debacle, held out hope, but saw the lack of energy, the body language, and the inability to play and execute good ball. Skill players can't change the game without the supporting cast of characters.

We need the best head coach, and an OC up in the box. We need great defensive minds. Big ass dudes in the trenches. We're getting pushed around like we were a HS team...

    Brutal. Better times ahead.

    Go Gators.

I wanted Napier to be very successful here and thought he would be!!!
I think he has made some of the same mistakes Mullen made about keeping his friends as coaches. With Sale mainly. This is the worst O-line UF has had in a long time having 2 O-line coaches and them putting this product on the field is atrocious. Plus not hiring a real true OC. He needed to clean house last off season. With offensive coaches.
I thing I will say is that I do not truly think any of us as fan realized how truly bad Mullen left UF in when he got fired as far as what he left Napier. This defense has not been good in 5 years. Why I simply scratch my head watching them there is talent out there for some reason it just is not coming together on the field which I think bringing in Robert's was not a good idea. I think the defense needs a complete change in philosophy.
Yesterday was the perfect storm for UF fans the team came out flat with no energy or drive the lightning delay, the rain , and the horrible calls at the end of the first half sealed the Gators fate plus Napiers as well.
All in all it's time for Change at UF all the way around from the Pres, to the AD , and to the football coach and until all that is changed then UF unfortunately will stay in this revolving door of coaches and buyouts

He also had a generational wide receiver named Randy Moss who Steve Spurrier passed on for character reasons. The character reasons were real but he still was one of the best receivers of all time.

Another one of the, shake your head things about this staff. Last year Billy hired a 29yo greenhorn DC. Nick hired AA to be a LB coach at Bama. A few weeks later Billy poached him, to be the DC. He was unbelievably given a 3yr $3.6mil contract. Year 1 was a disaster.

So this year Billy brought in a sitter for AA. Ron Roberts was hired to be the executive director or something for the defense at $1mil per. The season starts and how about that, RR is on the sideline running the defense, it’s clearly his defense. AA has been run up to the box, out of sight, no one even sees him. I guess he’s up there charting plays and taking notes hey, at $1.2mil. No matter what happens, he’s owed $1.3mil for next year too.

Just another brilliant move by Billy, and the defense appears to be no better either. smh
