So far these coaches have not made the final four or even won their conferences despite having the best player at the most important position. So what makes you think that they are the “elite” coaches that they are being paid to be. What I am saying is that backing up the truck for a coach is a crapshoot. The whole process is a crapshoot. There is a lot more to the infrastructure than just the coach. We need infrastructure. We need a President that cares about sports, we need a competent AD, and then we need the coach. This starts at the top. The problem is we don’t have a top currently. Vision from the top is important!

Not sure why some still think the fans had something to do with him leaving. You are right about some of what you wrote (Foley), but he never left because of the fans. Interpret it the way you want, but you are wrong and he would tell you so. My parents were best friends with a huge Bull Gator, very close to the Spurriers. We got a lot of scoop - it was NEVER anything with the fans. But no matter - some still think they had something to do with it.

 

Kiffin is the most logical choice, aside from the fact he's probably taking Ole Miss to the playoffs which means he won't be available until January 2025. But we probably weren't doing much damage on NSD anyway, so get Kiffin.

 

What I said that was that it contributed to his other frustrations. I never said it was the predominant reason. And he is within his rights to reflect his actions in retrospect. I think that is something we all do.

 

I didn’t say predominant either. It had nothing to do with it. Zero.

 

No really shoot for the moon. Hire Urban Meyer as head coach, Spurrier as offensive coordinator and Stoops as defensive coordinator and Zook as special teams/ recruiting coordinator and call it a day.

 

It was to their Alma maters though, right?

Winning the conference is passe. Finishing in the top 12 for now is all that matters. This is true for any candidate. It also opens up the field. There is clearly no sure thing hiring process but the new model gives potentially more leeway than perfection on a yearly basis

 

It's time to call Billy's Towing.

 

I gather there may be some additional animosity between Napier and some donors due to the latter feeling misled by Napier's prognosis of the team heading into the year.

 

Jon Gruden as HC, Trent Dilfer as OC and Marquand Manuel as DC. Still need to figure out AD. Terry Mohajir at UCF is actually pretty strong. But that would kind of suck.

 

Winning the conference gets you a bye and an easier route in the playoffs. So conference championships still do matter.

 

Fire Napier tomorrow and ride out the season with the current assistant coaches.

Call Urban Monday and give him whatever contract he wants….hire him as the coach in waiting so he can assess the roster, staff, etc. sort of like what usually happens during bowl season coaching changes. Most importantly, let him hire a couple staff to hit the recruiting trail hard, grow the NIL funds, and start turning things around now.

 

When choosing the next cant miss coach to lead UF out of the desert its easier to pick someone who can consistently win 9-10 games a year and compete in the playoffs

Agreed! What coach is that and how do we hire him without a President or AD? Championships will always be the easiest route. There is no denying it. More teams make it even more important.
