You might want to TRY and educate yourself just a bit.

The city had been shrinking in population for decades. It's high was around 80,000 in 1970s.

They are still 30,000 fewer people living there now then at its peak. So they didn't see the normal stresses a sudden increase would cause. On top of that, the influx has been occurring over a 10 year period.

In fact you are so bad at this, you even destroy your own argument. So if 12-14 people are living in one house, seems like that would greatly reduce the stress on home prices and rent.

Did not take long for main stream Republicans, ie racists, bigots and in some cases actual NAZI's have descended on Springfield, and have taken this from a stupid, silly lie to bomb threatens and other implied violence against school children, as well as city institutions.

This actually started with Nazis, so it is a full circle moment.

    https://www.npr.org/2024/09/10/nx-s1-5107320/jd-vance-springfield-ohio-haitians-pets

So the pathway is Nazis, social media influencers, Loomer, Vance, Trump, a bunch of Republicans backing Trump, and back to Nazis.

Yep never met a Haitian in my life. I only worked 6 years at freaking Disney, including 3 years as a Rooms Inventory Manager at a resort (I won't specify to protect myself and my identity).

So yeah I only worked very closely with Housekeeping. You know, the department at Disney that is probably 80% Haitians? When I was there, if your room was cleaned, it was almost guaranteed to be by a Haitian. I know more about Haitians, their culture and their behavior than either Trump or Harris, most in Congress and 99% of the posters on this board.

The Haitians were a constant problem for the Company but Disney likes the cheap labor. During my time there the Haitians would be so petty and cruel, they would even lash out against the Dominicans. You had to make sure the few housekeepers we had from the Dominican Republic were well separated from the Haitian housekeepers. The Haitians, if they weren't keeping to themselves, would actually bully some of the other housekeepers.

The Haitians had to be consistently monitored. They were very lazy people. And unlike other immigrants who were happy for the opportunity to be in the U.S. and work, the Haitians wanted everything given to them. They never wanted to do more than the bare minimum.

Haitians revive communities? Haha, that's funny. If you're in Central Florida go to Polk County and look at places like Haines City, Winter Haven and Dundee. Previously nice white communities in 30 or 40 years ago, Haitians have turned significant portions of those cities in ethnic Haitian enclaves. And sure enough, a lot of those areas are indistinguishable from Haiti itself. They are run down, look terrible and have trash everywhere. They look like the third world.

I knew someone, during my time at Disney, who was white and grew up in Winter Haven. She talked about how nice it was and then how it changed when the Haitians started to take over. Haitians don't revive communities, they destroy them. They turn them back into the third world they came from. Don't believe me? Go to the Haitian areas of Haines City, Winter Haven and Dundee and see if for yourself. Of course most of you won't because you don't want to see the truth.

Haitians never contributed to the local economy. All their money went back to Haiti? I never saw Haitians who attempted to assimilate into our culture. I never saw Haitians want to take vacations here in the U.S. and explore our country. They would just take their vacation time all at once and go back to Haiti. They could care less about the U.S., the U.S. is just an economic zone for them to get money to take back to Haiti. They do not help the local economies at all. Now I know thanks to Trump that they were probably catching local wildlife, including cats and dogs, and eating them as food. Just utterly disgusting.

The Haitians and the woke policies at Disney made me realize I couldn't be a true Conservative and still work for the rat. So I left during Trump's first run in 2016 to be true to myself. I don't regret leaving for a second. Maybe if Disney wasn't woke, their stock price wouldn't be in the tank (it was around $140-$145/share when I left, now it's less than $90/share).

President Trump is right and I'm glad he's bringing light to the Haitians. TPS status should be revoked and they should all be sent back to Haiti. Haitians are incompatible with western civilization. Maybe in the future they won't be, but for now they are and due to that they have no place in the U.S.

They are disrespectful, they do not attempt to assimilate, they are lazy, they do not help the local economy and in fact take money out of the local economy. They are not good people, I saw it first hand. I tried to be very kind to them at first, but that group alone caused my heart to turn black against them. I do not help people that refuse to help themselves.

Right now if I'm the State of Ohio and the Federal Government, I am investigating that factory that is employing Haitians near Springfield, Ohio now. Fine them millions and millions of dollars if every "I" isn't filled in and there is even one empty box on the I-9 of any of the Haitian immigrants. Fine them every penny they have for violating E-Verify. If multiple Haitian immigrants are found to have no documentation at that factory, or failed to file their I-9 correctly, then shut that factory down.

That factory needs to be catching absolute hell for hiring Haitian immigrants over locals. If that factory loves Haitians so much, then move the factory to Haiti. You'll then have unlimited access to Haitians. Of course we all know that factory owner won't do it. He would be dead within a week in Haiti and his factory would be burned to the ground, with what's left being looted.

So what happens when more Haitians come and then EVERY house that's on the market is bought or rented by Haitians who cram 12 - 16 people in a house? The Haitians can afford the high rent as they are splitting it 8, 12, maybe even 16 ways. A regular middle class family, even with 2 incomes, can't compete and are then priced out of the market.

Having Haitians buy and rent at high prices makes the market think that is the true market rate, when in reality the market is being manipulated by Haitians having multiple families in one household. The market truly can't handle it, but it doesn't prevent destroying people who don't want to share their house with 3 other families.

Yes, the Dole Fruit Company is well known for their aversion for working in unstable foreign countries. You clearly have a strong grasp of the circumstances here.

Good, so then it will be easy for them. Either hire locals instead of Haitian immigrants and if they don't want to they are free to close the factory and move the operation to Haiti if they love the Haitians so much. Bring much needed jobs to that country.

They are also free to hire legal immigrants and locate their facilities based upon the needs of their business. But you can feel free to purchase a ton of stock in the company and tell them what to do (probably need about 5% to really make an impact, so you will need to put together about $80 million or so). Have fun!

This really is the ugliest part of this. Immigrants come to this country search for a better life. Almost all of our ancestors did. To demonize a group the way Trump and others have done to the Haitians in Springfield is just so sad and ugly.
Does anyone this is acceptable to any religion? Or any reasonably decent human being?

I'm sorry rivergator but you are wrong on this one. Again I directly interacted with 100's of Haitians during my time at Disney. They were here for government programs, handouts and to send money back to Haiti, that was it.

They weren't here for a better life. They weren't here to assimilate, or to love the U.S. or to help the U.S. economy. They actually hurt the U.S. economy as almost all the money they make goes back to Haiti.

If tomorrow Canada or Australia offered better paying opportunities, they would leave the U.S. in a second. They really could care less about this country.

Oh please. The Statue of Liberty doesn't mean we have to let every single immigrant in the country. The Statue of Liberty doesn't mean we can't have immigration laws. The Statue of Liberty doesn't mean we can't temporarily stop immigration in emergency situations, like the illegal immigrant crisis we have now.

If it does, then screw the State of Liberty. Give it back to France. The cost is too high.

You need to make up your mind - are they here for handouts or paying jobs? You complain about both.
